LauraB's fresh strawberry pie

I was reading the Lemon Swirl cheesecake thread last Friday and came across LauraB's recipe for fresh strawberry pie. I LOVE strawberries, but I find that every strawberry pie I make comes out way too sweet. I was lazy and I bought a graham cracker crust, but I have to say, this pie was awesome! It does taste like a strawberry, just like Laura said. My husband ate almost half the pie last night. And the best part is that it's so low in fat and calories.

Do you think using thawed sliced strawberries (fresh) would make a difference? I have some in the freezer.

I am not totally sure, but I think thawed sliced berries would be OK even if not quite as good as whole fresh ones. And it will probably look really pretty with the sliced berries.

I am glad you liked it as much as I did! I usually don't drop everything and make a recipe as soon as CL shows up, but that one was the first time I just HAD to make the recipe RIGHT NOW!! Anyway, I have used a premade graham crust with it, too. But try it again with the nilla wafer crust - you won't be sorry!!

I had to slice some of the berries for my pie since my supermarket only had huge strawberries! It still tastes the same! My husband consumed the rest of the pie last night. It sure didn't last very long!
