YUM!

This was very good and probably a repeat. DH and I both gave it a 7.5 out of 10. Very tasty and easy to put together. The salsa was surprisingly pretty flavorful and I loved the tomatoes slathered over the steak. I served this with Gail's Orzo Rice Pilaf..yummm (my first time making it..thank you!) and steamed broccoli.

JeAnne - thanks for posting the review -- you've been cooking up a storm with the J/F issue!.

This was not one that I had marked to try... however, looking back a second time, and with your positive review, maybe I should give it a try!

Thanks for the review. I do plan on making this except I don't have a grill pan.

I rush to do them when I get the new magazine...otherwise I may forget about them when the new issue comes!

p/s i used a saute pan and it was fine :) I also increased the basil and onion and didn't bother making the basil oil.

I'm with Holly. I had skipped over this one the first time through. But since you gave it such a good review, I will rethink it.

I made this last night & also found it quite easy. Cooked the steak in a cast iron skillet since I don't have a grill pan. It really was quite good.

Served it with the rosemary roasted potatoes that are recommended in the back of the magazine. Unfortunately, these weren't too exciting. Actually, they were very dry, perhaps because they were cooked at 450 to get them done quicker.

The steak's a repeater; I'll pass on the potatoes!

I'm afraid that this recipe didn't do much for me. The salsa was good, but I thought the steak could have been alittle more interesting. Perhaps if it had been marinated to give it more flavor. We thought it was OK, but not a repeater here.

I made this last night and it was good, but either it was my vinegar or it needs a little tinkering.
I will do it again.

It's most likely my vinegar. I took a look at it last night and I'm buying new at the store this weekend.

Our cut of meat was a little tough, which I was either how I cooked it or just not a good cut at the store. The store only had 2 or 3 sirloin steaks when I was there. I just used a skillet because I don't have a grill pan either. Broiling might have been better.

Our salsa was just a tad too vinegary. I think either it needed new vinegar, less red wine vinegar, or balsamic vinegar instead. Next time I'll use new red wine vinegar then see if it needs more tinkering.

I served it with just plain jasmine rice and steamed broccoli, mostly because I was too lazy to do more than one recipe.

I agree with you, Peggy. Made this a few weeks ago and was less than impressed. But this could also be due to the fact I was using my new Foreman grill and am still working on getting the cooking times down pat!
