My new favorite "toy" is the Foodsaver that I got for xmas. I'm almost afraid that I might need to find a "foodsaver's anonymous" -- I'm "sucking-and-sucking" everything I can find ;) .

So my question is this... I was just checking the Foodsaver website and they have a special on rolls and bags right now. Basically, if you buy 3 rolls, they'll give you a free package of bags.

You can get either 3 small rolls (8"wide by 22' long) plus 22 quart-size bags for $35.99 OR...

you can get 3 large rolls (11" wide by 18' long) plus 15 gallon-size bags for $35.99

Is this a good deal? I know some of you have mentioned buying your bags at the warehouse places. Do you recall what their prices are? They don't say how long this special will last, so if you think it's a good deal then I may try to take advantage of it very soon.

I can't remember for sure, but I think my bags were about $35, and I got a box with 3 rolls of the large size and 2 rolls of the small size.

Here's what they're offering on their website:

I think you can find better deals than Tilia.

Hi Tracey......I buy mine at BJ's and its been a while since I bought some but I believe I paid around $29.00 for two boxes (11 x 18) and you get two rolls in each box.

You are going to love your Foodsaver! Did you get the one with the jar attachment? If so, then you will filling mason jars in no time. DH got me a label machine so that I can now know what is inside them without second guessing.

Thanks everyone. I had a feeling that the Tilia website deal probably wasn't the best around, but I wanted to check, just in case. I have a membership to BJs and a friend of mine has one to Costco, so I guess I'll be doing some comparison shopping soon.

Sue -- yes, I did get the one that can do wide-mouth jars (it's the 550), but I haven't gotten that attachment yet. And yes -- I'm really excited to be able to do that. Now all my beans and grains will stay super fresh. I'm also excited to be able to seal a can of spaghetti sauce using the original jar. With just 2 of us, we either end up eating spaghetti for several days, or have half a jar go to waste.

I buy mine at Costco...you get 4 rolls of the 11", and 2 rolls of the 8". The 11" is the one I end up using more often anyway! Price is $39.99, which is approximately $20 cheaper than buying the same bag material anywhere else. At Bed, Bath & Beyond two rolls is $20. At Tilia, it usually equals out to $10 per roll also. If you can get 6 rolls for $40, you're getting a deal! :D
