So I'm 372 pages into a 386 page book and pages 372 to 382 are missing. It re-starts with the epilogue. I just can't read ahead! I borrowed this book from the library and I was on the waiting list for several weeks to begin with and don't know if they have more than 1 copy, although I suspect they do.... I may have to just go and hang out in a bookstore at lunch time and hope I find the book so I can read those pages....

I couldn't believe it, I thought for sure my dad had a hand in it because he had a reputation for a while of cutting off the end of movies he video taped. Not exactly the same, but I'm left with the same anger and emptiness!:(

Yeowtch! How horribly annoying!!!

Can you rush to a bookstore and see if you can find the book there?

That would absolutely drive me crazy!! I hope you are able to find a copy soon... My friend once bought a cookbook that didn't have an index in it! It took her awhile to figure this out. She kept calling me to ask what page a recipe was on!:p Finally I asked her why she wasn't looking at the index. OOPS! She was so embarrassed. Unfortunately she bought it over the Internet and couldn't seem to get them to respond to complaints. I ended up copying mine for her!

Good Luck!

PLEASE TELL THE LIBRARY ABOUT THIS!

Sorry, but being a librarian I have to say this. They probably don't know the pages are missing, and would greatly appreciate you letting them know so they don't lend it out again and have someone else frustrate and disappointed.

You should let the library know.

When patrons come to me with a problem with a book (damage or missing pages, etc.)-- we'll put that patron back at the top of the holds list so they get the next book (maybe one is already in) with out waiting thru the hold line again, also they'll have to send that book back to the publisher for a corrected copy.

Our library also has 'rental copies' of popular books--if all of our copies are out, I'd give the patron the rentalbook free of charge so they can finish the book.

Go ahead and ask for another copy--that's what we're here for! :p

Not because I'm mad (which I'm not really) it isn't their fault. It is the kind of person I am. Like tp in ladies rooms, are women embarassed to tell someone the ladies room is out?

I am going to the bookstore in the mall at lunch to see if they have the book, so I can stand there and read those pages (if not sealed in plastic). If not I'll take the book to the library tomorrow and let them know.

But in the mean time the suspense is killing me. I may break down and read the epilogue!

It was worth the wait though. Even if I had to lurk around while enjoying the last 10pgs!

I'll make sure to tell the library personnel tomorrow.

Before the OJ scandal, it was called the murder of the century. (true story, many books and articles on the subject) In 1954 Dr. Sam (as he was known) found his wife dead in bed, and was attacked by "a bushy haired intruder"! (The Fugitive stories are based on this) Well the crutch of the whole thing is that he was convicted of the crime before anyone looked for evidence. The whole city thought he did it, the jurors were tainted and he was infact convicted in the '50s. He appealed and it was overturned in the late 60's after he'd spent 10 yrs in jail. But his life was basically ruined and he died a few years later. Then in the late 90's his son filed a civil suit because he felt his father's name had never been completely cleared, they never arrested anyone else for the murder. He felt that if he won this case his father's name would be restored. He lost.

The book goes into other possible suspects and scenario's. It was very good.
