My son loves the organic carrots from Wild Oats that come with the green tops still attached. Should I cut them off or keep them on while in the crisper? I don't know which way they will stay fresher. TIA

I could be crazy, but I think I read that you should always cut the greens off the top of veggies that come with them attached because they will continue to sap the nutrients out of the root. So, I would take the greens off your carrots. However, I could be imagining that I read that and/or it may have been from an unreliable source. I hope someone who knows for sure chimes in here.

Definitely remove the tops -- I don't know about nutrients but my unscientific experiments show that it makes the carrot wint and become rubbery (since the leaves pull water from the root)

Thanks -- I sort of suspected that the tops would make the carrots dry out!

I've read the same thing -- cut off the tops of your veggies that come with 'greens'. I read that this was particularly important with radishes!

The good thing is, with beets and turnips, you can eat the greens the day you buy them and store the rest!
