I am beating my head against a wall, and if it weren't so contorted, would be kicking myself as well.
I was at Wild Oats, and much to my delight I saw that they had Rosemary Olive bread, which has always been my all-time favorite. Now, I haven't had it in three years because I was only able to find it at Fresh Fields, which stopped making it (because of complaints re olive pits) in 1998.
Never again had I seen it, through a move to NH (think Panero's bread) and then to CT (think various others) till I got to Wild Oats in West Hartford, and there it was!
Letting out a yelp of delight, I bought a loaf.
And then I got sick and forgot about the loaf for a couple weeks.
Well, I remembered the loaf, whisked it out, sliced it - and then saw the crust. I forgot that preservative-less breads tend to develop mold if they aren't kept in the refrigerator, so there the loaf was sporting a nice crop of the stuff.
I threw it out. Now I've got to go to Wild Oats and hope they made it this week. :(
Ah, well... Live and learn.
