My DD just called and wants me to come down to Hunt Valley, Md where she lives and then the next day drive over to the Chelsea Premium Outlet Mall located in Leesburg, VA. Just looked up the webset at what is part of this mall and seeing the selection, am going to go down the first day she has off. !!
Question: what is the sales tax in Virginia? There is none on clothes
(bathing suits not included.....guess officials feel since you don't have to go swiming, bathing suits are "non essential items"...wonder what happens if you have to be in the water if it is part of medical physical therapy? )
and food in Pennsylvania. What are the taxable items in VA?
TIA

If my memory serves me correctly, just about everything is taxed, included clothes. I believe it's still at 4.5%, but I haven't lived there in a few years. It might have changed.

Everything is taxed, and I think it is a bit higher than 4.5%. I'll check it out and report back later.

I do think it is still 4.5. See this link:

Some localities, such as Arlington, charge an extra restaurant tax.
Joan,
Glad you like the quote. I found it on a Hallmark calendar! Have fun shopping.

I love that mall. It's a longer drive than Potomac Mills (another outlet in the Mills chains) but it has a Pottery Barn outlet and a Williams Sonoma outlet. The PB used to be much better but it still is a good place to check out.
Good luck and have fun.

Was out there today. Major Bargains!
I agree on the Pottery Barn outlet...it used to be way better. There was hardly anything there today!

I agree that the Pottery Barm outlet is a junkyard. But Williams SOnoma has some good stuff, and the old navy outlet cannot be beat for workout clothes.
