Someone posted a recipe for an easy crockpot meal with a turkey breast, canned cranberries, and onion soup mix. Today I bought the turkey and the soup mix, but I couldn't find a can of cranberries anywhere. Can someone who's made this before let me know if you think this could be made with a homemade cranberry relish? I was thinking boil down some cranberries with some sugar... I'm kind of on the fence in trying to decide if this would work or be disastrous.
Help! (Thanks!)

I haven't made this but I am almost positive it was posted using cranberry sauce rather than just canned cranberries.

Just use canned cranberrry sauce, either with whole cranberries or the jelly. It works fine either way... And it is de-lish!

Sapphirestar,
I made this, it is excellent, easy and so tasty. If I were you I would wait until you can buy the cranberry sauce. It is usually found in any supermarket on the aisle with canned fruits, applesauce...cans of this nature. For some reason I am picturing your home made concoction as resulting in a thick gooey goo for a sauce. You've already invested quite a bit for the turkey breast.
Hope this helps you.

I've subbed homemade cranberry relish, made exactly the way you described, just fine for canned cranberries. I just found that mine was juicer than canned would have been. I think you'll be fine if you sub-homemade.
Although, if it doesn't work, I wasn't the one who told you it would ;)
