This is a long shot; the DH and I always seem to find ourselves in the most out-of-the-way places. One of his closest friends is marrying a woman of Scottish descent and they decided to have the wedding in her home town. The reception will be at a very nice hotel in St. Andrews, but we are not interested in paying the rate of 160 pounds a night. However, I am concerned about staying in a house-type B&B because we probably will be out till all hours each night.

Has anyone ever been to St. Andrews? Any idea of where to stay?

Thanks :)

Hi Jessica,

I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions for you. I just wanted to tell you that you're very fortunate to be going to Scotland. I went there a few years ago and loved it. The scenery is gorgeous and there is so much history! I stayed in Edinburgh and drove up to St Andrews for the day. Don't miss Edinburgh if you have some extra time. The castle that overlooks the city is breathtaking. I was there when it wasn't tourist season so I could roam around in solitude and imagine what it must have been like all those centuries ago.

I'm envious! Have a wonderful trip!

Hi Jessica -

Your trip sounds wonderful. I was lucky enough to get to study in Scotland (Glasgow) and miss the beauty of the land and the warmth of the people. I did visit St Andrews, but only on a day trip, so I don't have first hand experience with accomodations. However, a fellow student and her father stayed at The Inn www.theinn.co.uk and found it pleasant. Just thought I would pass that info along in case it helps.

I agree with Jasmin-Rose about maybe staying in Edinburgh. It truly isn't that far! When do you go? I'll be there in March and could find some hotel names for you.
