I'm hoping to find some others who would be interested in starting a supper club here in New Orleans. Any kind of group would be great. Anyone interested? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Julie,
There's actually already a thread going about a New Orleans supper club, but since no one's added to it in a while it doesn't show up right away. Try to scroll down in your browser or change the option at the bottom to show messages from the last 3 weeks. There are three other people/couples interested already, but since I added my message a few weeks ago I haven't heard anything. I thought I'd give it to the end of the month, then try to email people.

Hi Terrill. THanks for the helpful tip. I tried to follow your hints, but I couldn't seem to find any other messages past the post you made on 1-4. Maybe the others were too far back. ANyway, I'm definitely interested in joining a club. Do you still have the e-mails of the others you had seen on the list? Let me know if you find out anything about others wanting to get together.

Hi! I'm one of the people from the earlier thread (which I now can't find, either). I'm swamped at work these days, which is why my original effort fizzled out. Sorry about that. But my husband and I are still interested. How do we do this? I read somewhere else on the site that a great way to begin is to meet for the first time at a restaurant, so we can enjoy someone else's cooking while we plan our first in-a-home meeting. If that sounds good, any suggestions for a not-too-expensive restaurant?

I'm so glad others are checking the sight again, hopefully we can get some people interested! I think meeting at a not-too-expensive restaurant sounds great. What part of New Orleans do you all live in? Maybe we can pick something convenient for all. I live in uptown. Any particular type of food you like that would be good for our first meeting? Looking forward to hearing replies!

I live on the Westbank but work downtown; just about anywhere (location-wise) is fine with me. Here are some restaurant suggestions to get us thinking:

Mona's (Mediterranean food, either the Magazine St. or Frenchman St. location)
Nirvana (Indian, on Magazine)
Santa Fe Cafe (near or on Frenchman)
Bangkok Cuisine (Thai, 4100 block of S. Carrollton)
Taqueria Corona (Mexican, Magazine or the Warehouse District)
Sun Ray Grill (multi-ethnic, Warehouse District or Metairie location -- or Westbank, actually, though I don't imagine anyone else lives over there)

There. Your turn for suggestions!

P.S. I just checked the old New Orleans thread, and the other person who expressed interest was Ann Layman. No idea how to contact her, but thought I'd bring that info onto this new thread.

Any of those places sounds great to me. Maybe we should also think about when we want to meet. SHould we try for a time after Mardi Gras? Maybe the week of February 18. That would give us some time to do the planning and see if others want to become involved that see this thread. THoughts, anyone?

I am so pleased to see the interest in a supper club. An inexpensive restaurant meeting sounds good to my husband and I to plan future get togethers.

Wow, things are picking up! I agree that after Mardi Gras sounds good, but/and my husband will be out of town the weekend of Feb. 16 & 17. Any chance we can bump it to the next weekend? (If not, I can attend alone and represent us!)
If folks now want to do this via e-mail, please feel free to contact me at: tanastaplo@hotmail.com
Remember to let me know when and where sounds good to you!

Feb. 19-22 we are unable to meet. Any other time is good for us. I can be contacted by email: aklay1@aol.com. Look forward to hearing from you. Ann

Ann, I tried to e-mail you by copying and pasting the e-mail address in your post, but for some reason the message got returned as undeliverable. Would Feb. 18 work for you, or would you prefer to wait until early March? Also, what's your preference for a location?
(Julie Germann, if you're reading this, please feel free to chime in, too, with your thoughts/comments/preferences!)
Thanks!

That date would suit just fine. We would be interested in trying either Nirvana or Sun Ray Grill. What time did you have in mind?

The 18th sounds fine to me. Either of the restaurants sounds, fine, too. I'm so excited this group is getting going, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Terrill, are you available for any of this?

The 18th sounds great--we're looking forward to it. I might prefer the Sun Ray grill, since I've been to
Nirvana a few times in the last month, and haven't yet tried the Sun Ray.

Hi! Let's call it a date on Feb. 18th! Would 7:00 be too late for folks? (Or too early?) And do you think I am jumping the gun to say that there seems to be a concensus to try the Sun Ray Grill? If that choice is all right with everyone, which Sun Ray Grill location do we want to meet at? I am assuming that the one on the Westbank wouldn't be convenient for others, so here are two others that I know of for sure:

619 Pink St.
Metairie, LA 70005
504-837-0055

and

1051 Anunciation (Warehouse District)
phone: 566-0021

I work really close to the Warehouse District one, but would need some travel time to get to the Metairie location (though I think a 7 p.m. start-time would work for me).

Looking forward to meeting everyone! We will be at the Sun Ray Grill, Warehouse District at 1051 Anunciation, on Monday Feb 18th at 7PM unless someone posts some other suggestion. I also work in the downtown area and can be there at 7pm or earlier if it suits everyone.

The 18th at the Sun Ray Grill sounds good to me, too. I had a thought, if people are working downtown, would it be convenient to meet a little earlier? 6 or 6:30? If not, 7 is fine with me. Looking forward to meeting you all.

6PM is good for me if it is OK with everyone else. Ann

Okay, we can make 6 p.m. work, too, I think. I suggest we all make sure we check this thread the day before, just to make sure we see any adjustments that people have had to make, or see if anyone has had to cancel. (Probably obvious, but thought I'd mention it....)

Do you think we should make a reservation? I'll be happy to do it, if you think we should. Are we 7 in all (Terrill: 2; Julie: 1(??); Ann: 2; and Teddy: 2)?

I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi, I made reservations for 8 people (to be on the safe side), for 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 at the Warehouse District Sun Ray Grill. These can be changed if anything comes up, but I decided to do it now so I don't forget. They're under my name, Teddy, but feel free to grab the table if you get to the restaurant before I do!
Happy Mardi Gras!

Thanks for making the reservation. I'm just a single, but I don't think that will make much difference for the reservation. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

Good morning, All!

As far as I know, we're still on for this evening! I'm looking forward to seeing you at 6 p.m. at the Warehouse District Sun Ray Grill! If you think of it, it might be good to bring along your appointment calendar, if you have one (so we can set a date for our next meeting in "real time," rather than doing e-mails, etc.), and a pen and paper (for exchanging e-mail addresses, etc.).

See you later!
Teddy
