Just got this handy dandy software over the weekend - the Cooking Light version. I was having fun checking out all the interesting recipes. Then I tried to enter in some recent CL recipes from the magazine and some other CL cookbooks. I noticed that the nutritional values don't seem to gibe. In a couple of cases, they're significantly off.
Has anyone else had problems with this feature? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I verified all the input.
UGH!

You're right about that discrepancy. In some cases, it is a matter of double checking the nutritional info in MC's ingredient list. It could be that what CL intended you to use is a little different than the basic ingredient listed in MC. I have had to create some new ingredients. However, you will still find a difference in the nutritional info. I have found that, in most cases and after checking the ingredients, the difference is not that big (MC usually states slightly higher calories and fat). CL has more sophisticated nutritional analysis than MC and also takes certain things into account that MC does not. If you have the right indredients listed, MC does a very good job of giving you the basic nutritional info. It just is not quite as precise, if that is the right word, as CL is.

Barbara - I bet we live close. Where did you get MasterCook and how much was it? I saw it was $19.99 on Amazon and I thought that was pretty good but I would prefer to just pick it up locally.
I've got to do something with all these recipes I have in Microsoft Word!

You're right! We're *neighbors* :-) I live in Wilmington. I checked out Amazon too, but went to the Sierra Software website and saw that CompUSA sells it. When I went to the CompUSA site, they listed it at $19.99 so I went to the store they have in Woburn and VOILA! I bought it!
Like yours, my Word recipe book is HUGE and getting cumbersome to manage. I read a lot of good stuff about MasterCook and so I took the plunge. So far, so good. Aside from the odd minor nutritional analysis discrepancies (minor..just strange), I really really like it.
