i have an old cast iron fry pan that i think that i have ruined...maybe not. i have heard many ways to clean/season the pan. some involving large amounts of salt, another version of baking it after smearing it with olive oil. What i would like is some advice on how to proper season this pan. If someone knows the "salt method" please post anything you know. Thanks in advance.

To clean with salt all you need is some kosher salt and paper towels. I rinse my pan in water the sprinkle in some salt and rub with the paper towls. Depending on how bad the pan is you may to to rinse and redo a few times.

I clean mine with oil & salt. Just enough oil so you can scrub with the salt.
