I really enjoy making bread in my new bread machine, but how do you slice the bread into even slices?
My knife works fine I'd just like more uniform slices.

I know that there are bread knives that have an extra piece on them that is a guide which helps you make even slices. It almost looks like 2 parallel blades (although only 1 of them is sharp) with a space in between them. Sorry if that description doesn't make much sense; I don't actually have one. My mom has one and I've asked for one for Christmas!
I just looked it up on the web - I believe it is called a fiddle bow bread knife. I found a picture of one on a site here: http://www.thewhitewhale.com/fbow.htm

There's another contraption out there for making bread slicers. I've seen them in Target and other stores. Here's a link to a photo:

Thanks for your suggestions. I found just what I was looking for on clearance at Target. I never even thought of looking there until you mentioned it lindrusso.

Thanks Slknight! I checked out the web site and that looks like it would work.
Anyone else have suggestions for making uniform bread slices?

Hi Laden,
I didn't have much luck with the wooden slice guide or whatever you call that thing with the slots to fit the knife into. What I've found that has worked the best for me is an electric knife. I can get thinner slices with this than I can a regular knife and mine came with a "guide" that I can set the thickness to whatever I wanted for even slicing.
