This is his topic tonight. Can't wait to see what he does w/ this critter. It will probably be a hoot, as usual.
Wasn't there a post a while back asking for squid recipes??

I can't wait to see this one, he really makes things that seem intimidating a lot less so.

I love calamari, but have never attempted it. Maybe soon!

I actually cooked some squid once, don't remember the dish at all, but remember working with it. Not too gruesome, really, but I'll be interested to see what Alton has to say on this one. :)

The title of the episode is Squid Pro Quo! And here's the link to the one recipe he's making, Squid Vicious: http://www.foodtv.com/foodtv/recipe/0,6255,20005,00.html
Definitely a very strange man!!

The transcript for each episode is usually posted a day or two after it first airs on www.goodeatsfanpage.com .

He's probably the only person on the face of the earth who could get me to even entertain the thought of preparing these at home.

Did you catch last night's episode?
I loved it when Alton was dragged off by Giant Squid Man. Classic Alton!

I forgot about it.

(I'm the one who asked for squid recipes)

I made the Squid in Beer Sauce from foodtv and it was great. kinda different(not used to using beer/alcoholic drinks in food) but good.

That link will take you to Alton Brown's schedule via Food TV.

It will show again on Sat. at 6pm. If for some reason I did that wrong.

MKsquared I was thinking the same thing!

There is an official AB fan page out there which lists all of the upcoming shows and menus. It's pretty cool. Next week, CHOCOLATE!

I started to watch this and got as far as squid anatomy before I had to turn it off....I was eating dinner at the time.

Ok, do you guys like all the mock acting stuff he does? IMHO, I love his content, but could do without the skits, I think they can be a little cheesey.

But, please don't take offense, different people like different thing. Just curious as to why you like Alton.

Ok - I'm still repulsed by squid - and it looked like way too much work for such little food. Not sure how the turker fryer / wok thing would translate to real life (do you really need it that hot?).

As for the skits - I found this one to be a little over the top, and too long. But I do usually like them... DH starts getting antsy when the skits are so goofy though. Other than that, he likes A.B. almost as much as me.

You're not alone....I think his skits are really dorky.

I do, however, think he's awesome and the show is awesome. I always learn a lot. Reminds me of Gardening by the Yard on HGTV. Great content, but I think they try just a bit too hard to be entertaining. Oh well.

I missed the squid episode, but want to catch it on Sat.

One big problem I have is that DH *HATES* watching cooking on TV. So, whenever he's around, we have to compromise and end up watching something else. Does anyone else have that problem? Argh.

And his skits ARE dorky-but that's the very reason why I like 'em. Intentional dorkiness.

I missed most of it, too (watching the Wake/State game-Go Deacs!). I'm sure they'll play it again. I've seen the egg one like, a million times.

DH kept making remarks about how dorky it was, but he watched the whole show with me.

Like Jen said, the intentional dorkiness draws you in. Plus, he is so full of little tidbits, and I love tidbits! :p

I guess what draws me in is the depth of knowledge he shares about the ingredient or technique- and I put up with the dorky skits to learn something. Do you really think it's intentional? I think I saw somewhere that he was a film major or something.....
