Doh! I can't believe it's taken me this long to put 2 and 2 together. I did not realize that Southern Living magazine and Cooking Light were under the same umbrella -- Southern Progress. No wonder those are my top 2 recipe sources. I feel like a goofball. I collect the Southern Living Annual Cookbooks and love them to death. Anyone else like Southern Living?

I really like Southern Living, even though I live in the north! Before I got married I read Southern Living weddings all the time, they had the most beautiful pictures and great recipes too.:)

You know, I was thinking about posting a thread asking what other people thought about the recipes in Southern Living. I like some of their light recipes, but other than that, their recipes do not appeal to me at all. Most of them are so full of fat, which just doesn't impress me anymore. I still enjoy the rest of the magazine, though. While reading it, I can fool myself into thinking I'll actually find the time to plant a beautiful garden or redecorate my living room.

I'm with Beacooker. I just let my subscription run out. I liked Southern Living alot, but the recipes just don't work for my lifestyle. Sometimes I would read the name of one and think it sounded so good. Then I would start reading the ingredients and have to disregard the recipe. You can lighten some of them, but often you can't.
I'm reading parenting magazines now, too, so I just don't have time anymore. I'm keeping my CL subscription, but that's it.

I've subscribed to Southern Living for a few years and I really only use if for travel, garden and decorating ideas. Occasionally I'll run across a recipe that I'm willing to sacrifice some fat and calories for!
I've always lived in the South and I find the travel section interesting. It has enlightened me to the so many places just beyond my back door that I've never taken the time to explore!
