View Full Version : Question about WW exercise points....

Okay, this struck me as very silly. I can't find exercise points for sit-ups on the WW Online journal. Do they have something against sit-ups??? ;)

They have BARN CLEANING, housecleaning, gardening (breaking it down into categories for hoeing, etc.) warm-ups, calisthenics, etc., but no sit-ups! Sit-ups are hard! If warming up warrants points, then surely sit-ups do!

Anyway, I wondered if I had missed something or if maybe some of you doing the meetings had a point value for sit-ups that they simply forgot to include on the site.

I tried to give myself 1/2 a point, but they don't let you do fractions for exercise. So I gave myself 1 point. It was 10-15 minutes of sit-ups, stretching and some side-bends with weights.

Hi Alysha,

I had the same thought, but I attribute it to the fact that sit-ups aren't aerobic exercise. I could be wrong, but that's really the only reason I can think of. I average about 200 in one sitting, and I figure it's worth something, but maybe it'll just show up eventually in my abs!! :D

I would use the points for strength training. Essentially that's what you're doing, just not using weights other than your own body resistance. Sit-ups are included in many strength training routines as well. Ten minutes is worth 1 point.

Nydia is right :D Definitely strength training. The online is a little different than the booster that we get at meetings ...it seems a little more specific online which is probably a good thing :) With the booster, you only get to pick light, moderate or high activity. Though my weight lifting makes me sweat, I still count it as moderate activity. With sit ups ...if you are combining them with stretching etc...that's light. If you are doing them as part of a weight regiment with cardio, you may want to find another category that will boost your points earned for it as you are working harder. Make sense?

Thanks for your input! I was pretty much doing what you suggested - adding my time spent doing sit-ups into my strength training, but I decided to check the site to see if they had specific points for sit-ups. It just surprised me to see they didn't break it down since they seemed to get so specific about other things!

Hey, I sure don't want to miss out on any points coming my way! :D
