I'm thinking about adding a yoga class to my weekly routine and wondered if anyone in the triangle, particuarly Raleigh, had any recommendations for a good place to start out. I'd like a place that specializes in more than one style of yoga if possible.

TIA,
Jen

But try going tohttp://www.yogajournal.com/directory/ and you can search for whats in your area--I've had good luck with this & so have other yoga friends of mine. Any good yoga teacher/studio will let you sit in on a class/session to get a feel for their style (no matter what practice they follow) before you plunk down the $$ to sign up. Also look around for any 'free yoga' in your area--here where I live, there is a group of people who meet (& train those who wish to lead the sessions) at the local university & area churches etc. & all do yoga together--anyone can join. There may be something similar where you live.

Good Luck,

Kyle

Jen, I know Jill Marie, who runs the yoga place in North Hills. I have not been to her classes, but I think she is a great person and you might want to try her. She has numerous teachers and types of classes. I also have a friend who loves the Bikram Hot Yoga in Ridge Road shopping center. That is the place where they turn the heat up to 100 and you sweat alot. It was written up in the N&O a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks Beth. The hot yoga place is in the shopping center where I buy my groceries, but I hate heat!! I was actually thinking about trying Nirvana Yoga, but I wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it. Do you know the name of the place in N.Hills?

I've been to Nirvana yoga several times and I really enjoy it. I tried yoga for the first time a couple of months ago (the Hot Yoga mentioned earlier!) -- it was a great workout, but I found Nirvana to be a better fit for me. Each time I go the class is completely different. Sometimes it's more intense, other times more relaxing. Hope you try it. On another note -- are there any open supper clubs out there?
