Hello all. I am looking for a rather odd item and thought perhaps the resourceful group that you are could help me.
My fiancee and I have a joke about lobsters. It stems from the romantic idea, much like swans, that they mate for life, therefore...he is my lobster and I his. You get the idea, not quite as romantic as the swan, but we are a bit quirky. Here's the thing. I found a site that sells chocolate lobsters, yes they actually do make them, but they are big, 6-7inches. I want to see if I can find smaller molds and make them as a fun little surprise. Anyone have any ideas where to look for them? I have tried WIlton's already.
Thanks in advance for any help. And I know by this point you must all think I am insane, but really, we are mostly normal....

thanks,
jennifer

Have you looked for a candy shop that can/will make some for you? When a friend of mine got married his Dad's (passed away) college roommate had some chocolates made for them for their wedding reception.

Here's a source for a lobster lollipop mode - looks like mail order only though...

Jennifer - Ross & Rachel on "Friends" are each other's lobsters too! Phoebe started saying it that way.

I have seen lobster cookie cutters in the cooking shops that have a large selection of different shapes. If you could find one of those, you could melt chocolate into the cutter, let it harden, & then remove the cutter. Or you could bake a brownie or other pan cookie & cut them out w/ the cutter. Or cut up a sheet cake...white cake w/ red tinted frosting. Sugar cookies w/ red colored sugar on top & nestled in a bed of green tinted coconut (seaweed).
You could also check/call your local seafood places...they may have lobster themed stuff.

Try this site:
www.chocolatecheers.com

they will make a mold out of pretty much anything. I've never used them, but the owner is the brother of a friend of mine, and my friend raves about them.

I'd love it if someone made me a big honkin' lobster out of the best quality dark chocolate they could find...After all, it's a love food (lobster AND chocolate).

Thanks everyone...I knew I could count on you to help me out. I did find a place...can you believe they make crazy things like this. Anyway, I am going away on business for a few days, and DF is going to be finding chocolate lobsters everywhere!! hehehe. Thanks again.
