I know from past discussions that a lot of people here don't care for Country music but yesterday the music world lost a great singer-songwriter. A legend in his own time, Waylan Jennings died yesterday in Phoenix from complications due to his diabetes.

I feel the pain... :( Waylon Jennings was one of the true 'Outlaw' pioneers. My favorite country radio station played a few songs yesterday and I caught them on the drive home. 'Luckenbach Texas' and 'Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys'.... When singing with Willie Nelson he was amazing! I never really liked either of them on their own much, but together they were a classic. Waylon has my prayers for a beautiful place in Heaven that has a front porch and a place for him to play his guitar. :(

I saw the news this morning. DH likes Waylan Jennings, but I don't know if he heard the news yet. DH is a big country music fan.

I really don't care for Willie Nelson as a singer, and I'm not a huge country fan (I do love Tim McGraw though! ;) ) but I agree with Jewel - 'Luckenbach Texas' is a classic. He will be missed.

:( I saw in the paper today that he died. I grew up listening to Waylan & Willie (and to my uncle's obnoxious renditions of Waylan's song, "Amanda"). 64 is so young, too...

My sister was named after a Waylon song (Amanda, which led to many awful renditions in our household as well-one last night in memory of caused DH to hold his hands over his ears) and I LOVE Mamas. The Highwaymen rule too. And I love country music. The real kind. The outlaw kind.
