Preparing apples

I have some apples I want to prepare for pies and crisps. Do I have to can them for storing or is there another way to keep them in the freezer and use when needed.

Hi. I cut the info from a magazine that says you can slice, core the apples and mix them in a feeezer bag with the sugar, flour and spices called for in your favorite apple pie recipe. When you crave for pie defrost a bag and continue with your recipe. Also apples keep well in your crisper.
