Hello to all of my new wonderful friends. I know this is off-topic, but I just had to share with you: DB was officially promoted to DF at 9:00am today. :D

I had wanted to propose over a candle-lit dinner, or at least at lunch with some sparkling grape juice in pretty stems... but he wanted to give me my present early, when I still had bed head, so I had to go with it. But that's ok because it all worked out.

We're shooting for April 5th, the 5th anniversary of our first date. That's important to me for sentimental reasons, and I figured if he wasn't gonna ask me, I'd have to do the asking. He wasn't surprised...in fact, he said he had been thinking about the same thing. Well, ya snooze, ya lose and someone steals your thunder.

So thanks for letting me make my announcement. :p

Congratulations Susan,
This April 6th DH and I will be married 29 years!! Wow, I am also expecting my first GRANDchild any day now.

Susan, I'm glad you took the plunge and asked!! As I get older I realize just how short life really is. You two have apparently been together for a long time, so NO adjusting there!!
Enjoy, your new......name!!

Well...heheheheh....y'all are gonna think we're so silly....but yeah, we're gonna do the Vegas thang and have an Elvis marry us. At least, that's the preliminary plan. Then on April 5th of NEXT year, we'll do the whole shebang with the dress and tux and parents. The only rush this year was trying to incorporate Valentine's Day and our 5th anniversary. Besides, since we've been together so long already, this is pretty much a formality, so why not have fun with it? :D

Thanks very much for all the sweet words and kind wishes!

Congratulations Susan. How very exciting!!!!!

One of my closest friends proposed to her boyfriend in Aug of 2000, and they got married Sep 2001. He would have asked (eventually), but she didn't want to wait for that. They're a great match and very happy.

If you're getting married in Vegas, the travel channel has been airing these 1/2 hour shows where they feature couples getting married. I think I've caught different shows almost every night this week. Might give you some ideas of where you want to do it in Vegas.

Much happiness, love and joy in your NEW MARRIAGE...
How cool!!! Congrats...
(I asked my DH too....who can wait for them; they're slow sometimes :D :o :o )

big wedding or small????

Y'all are so sweet....

Jen---many congrats to you, too! Did yours take you by surprise, or were you ready for it?

Barrie---April seems to be a good month suddenly, huh? Best wishes to you, too! (And BTW, I love a good dirty mind-- keeps life interesting :D )

Jennifer--- I've seen a few of those shows, too, and they're actually what inspired me to go on the 'Net and do a search. You'd be astounded at the sites!

Wallycat--- The Vegas version will be very small....just Pat and me, and we may take our best friends with us to witness for us. I don't want the thing to seem fake just because it's informal. And the real wedding next year will probably be rather small. I wouldn't want an actual ceremony at all if my first marriage hadn't been such a fiasco. I knew it was doomed from the get-go because: 1) we went to the JP's office; 2) she wore jeans and a T-shirt with fish on it under her robe (small town Texas, whaddya expect?); 3) I wore black; and 4) and this is the real kicker---it was Friday the 13th. So Pat and I want to do it right. And I know you understand the part about wanting to go ahead and ask him because if I had waited for him, we'd still be dating 10 years from now, and he'd be just as happy.

I am so happy for you both! You are so great! I admire you for asking him. My DH and I dated for six years before he asked me, I wish I had had the nerve to ask him.:)

I'd consider it an honor if y'all would help me plan it. I don't want it to be all fancy-schmancy, but I do want it to be nice. We have lots of time, so that's a good thing. Thanks so much for your kind offer!
