I just picked up my first copy at the market-- every single thing on the cover grabbed my interest. Comfort foods. Growing your own herbs. Stopping cravings (my period starts in three days!!! :D ). Thai food.

I haven't looked through it yet, but I was wondering what others think of this mag.

Lisa,
I don't subscribe...but if I see an interesting cover, I buy it...I did just send for the "Vegetarian Times Cookbook"...so when it arrives I'll post a review.

I check it out from the library and flip through. I sometimes find good recipes in it, but overall, it's a bit too thin to justify a subscription, in my opinion. The articles are interesting, but very short, never in depth. Though at least they're about more serious stuff than the CL makeup section!!

I don't subscribe, but pick it up at the grocery store. I just picked up this issue today and briefly flipped through it. Everthing looks yummy. We're not veg, but I like to do meatless for lunch and for 2-3 dinners a week. The mag gives me tons of great ideas, and since I'm trying to get dairy out of my diet (I have "food sensitivities") I'll probably be using it more.

I subscribed for a couple of years, but dropped my subscription. Even though some of the recipes were really good, I just felt like the magazine as a whole was WAY too preachy--I like vegetarian food, but am not a vegetarian, and frankly (just my opinion) I got really tired of the constant, overwhelming "If you eat meat, you're irredeemably EVIL" attitude. Turned me off the whole thing.

So, a stick, not a carrot, from me.

I thought it was a little preachy too until I picked up VeggieLife. Yowza. The stuff in Veggie TImes, though, I can ignore.

That's what I call "black-belt vegetarians" and it irritates me too. Everyone has the right to make choices for themselves. I choose not to eat meat, but other people do, and that's fine by me! We each have to find the path that's right for us. I'm totally with ya on this one!

I flipped through the magazine yesterday and I was a bit disappointed-- CL is a much nicer magazine IMO. There were hardly any pictures of their recipes, and nothing much jumped out at me to try. All the articles were so copy heavy that it seemed like a chore to even read them, so I just flipped the page.

I just got the March issue of Vegetarian Times and I am impressed! It is one one the best issues I have seen in a long time. The Thai recipes look great as do the Carribbean recipes. There is also a Minestrone soup with roasted vegetables that look good .I also like how they have moved the Recipe Index to the front of the magazines- the list certainly made me want to explore further.
Oh and the Curried Potato Stuffed Breads look great. I really like Ken Haedrich's recipes. I am pleased to see that most of the recipes call for easy to get ingredients- not always the case in this and CL. Overall, I think this issue is a real winner. Of course I haven't tried any thing out of it yet!
