Grace: thanks for the recipes

Grace,
My husband,kids, and I recently went apple picking, and I have been trying lots of new apple recipes. I copied two of your recipes a few months ago on a thread for coffee cakes-apfelkuchen and apple snackin cake. They were both delicious. Thank you very much. The apfelkuchen was by far our favorite too. I liked the apple snackin cake better than my husband(and so did my boys!).

So glad you liked those recipes. I'm happy to share my favorites, especially because I look forward to finding out everyone else's favorites here too.

Try the apfelkuchen recipe with other fruits, such as plums (the small, dark ones), or sour cherries - only omit the cinnamon in the streusel topping and substitute a little vanilla sugar instead. My husband's favorite is the sour cherry version. I bet it would be good with peaches or nectarines too (the Germans use all kinds of fruits, and the dough is simple and versatile). Anyway, thanks for letting me know you tried them, and again, I'm really glad you and your family liked them!!
