I know that someone else started a thread about the March CL being in the stores in Canada, but I haven't seen any posts about receiving it in the mail. I can't be the first one!

Not gloating, just letting you all know that it's on the way to your mailboxes too!!!:D :D :D

Ooooh, ooooh! I got mine, too! (Cover looks icky!)

I'm totally overwhelmed, though: Too much new reading material for one day! I bought a Cook's Illustrated and a Living Simple, a new Vegetarian/Veggie cookbook, and the CL came in today's mail. Top it off with a late Valentine's Day present making through the postal system today, and I don't know what to do!!

MK! That's not fair! There wasn't anything in my mail except those stupid Tueday fliers for Odd Lots or whatever!

I'm in Kansas City too and got mine yesterday. I read it last night and I'm disappointed. There really isn't much in there that I would make. March is a tough issue b/c it really doesn't have much to lead it anywhere. There aren't any new foods that are in season now, and there isn't the "fall" theme, or holiday theme. To me, the issue is very "brown." Plus, a lot of the foods are way to meat and potatoes for me. Hope you all get yours and you can see what you think.

i'm happy for you but this means at least two weeks at best before i see mine. i even went to the store to buy this issue cause the dh is out of town and i could relax over dinner with it. the store didn't have it. so i guessed a saved a few $$. maybe i'll console myself over a penzey's with a possible order.

I don't think I even deserve a March issue (but I still want it if Maelynn is reading this :D ). My Jan/Feb issue was late so I e-mailed Customer Service. Well, I never got a response and it did say you would hear something in 24 hours (I think). Anyway, I waited a week, didn't hear anything so I e-mailed again. Still nothing so I called the 800#. To make a long story short, I just received a 4th Jan/Feb issue today ! :o

In my defense, I will be distributing the exta copies so there may be three new subscribers soon! :)

Got mine yesterday. At first glance, not too many recipes caught my eye. Oh well, a good chance to get caught up on other recipes from previous issues I've wanted to try.

Got mine today in NW In. At a quick glance a few thinga look good: goat cheese crostini, mushroom stock, stuffed mushrooms, baaked mushroom rice and lemon risotto with asparagus. This a quick look at the recipe index. I am always looking for different sides to make and these sound good. Vicky

I bought one at the airport today so I'd have something to read on the plane. I'll have to take a closer look once I get home, but some of the recipes in the "Spices" article caught my eye.

My sister lives across town from me in Boston, and SHE got her CL yesterday, and I didn't! What's the deal??? She offered to let me take it home for the weekend, but I was strong...I resisted...

Maybe today...

I took a quick look at mine yesterday. I think if they were really going to do a back to the best they should have done 2 years ago. It seems like we just saw many of those recipes, so it's kind of dissapointing.

The cover looked ok, except the frozen mashed potatoes:eek:

I might make that. Growing up our country fried steak was done with campbells condensed cream of mushroom soup (I think). The last time I had country fried steak was at my inlaws, and it was most definately done to cover up the inferior quality cut of meat used to make the dish. ICK!

There were a few things that sound interesting. I've seen some other recipe using the chipolotes in adobo so I'm going to look for some. Wasabi powder sounds neat too (good for a trip to Harry's anyways).

It doesn't seem like there are as many things I'd like to try as there were in Jan/Feb. I'm trying to add more fish and vegetarian things to our diet, and there didn't seem to be as many of these dishes that appealed to me. I'm having better luck with the fish/seafood part. Then again I didn't spend a long time going through it, so I will probably find more later.

Has anyone in the South received their CL in the mail yet??

I'm in Alabama and my sister in PA got hers yesterday. I ALWAYS get mine first (I live down the road from headquarters!).

I'm getting desperate!

Mine came yesterday just as I was leaving to accompany my husband to a reception 100 miles from home so I read it while we rode along. I must agree with vjc in that not too many of the recipes seemed to appeal to me but there are still some in the Jan/Feb issue that I want to try and I may pull out last year's March issue to see if I missed any last year. Also have 521 recipes in my Try Later cookbook in MC so it might give me a chance to try a few of those this month.

Mine just arrived yesterday, too. I have to admit that I'm not thrilled about the "best of 2001" article, either. Perhaps they're targeting people who don't purchase the annual, but some of those recipes do seem so recent -- it seems like a waste of space.

On first glance, the issue didn't really bowl me over, but I want to go through it again more closely.

Hurray! The March issue has hit Northern California. Just in time for our Supper Club dinner next weekend. I'm the hostess, so I get to choose the menu. Looks like some great recipe choices!

Rebecca:

I don't know if you're alone in Boston or not, but I'm still waiting down here in Dixie, too. It was a long, sad walk back to the house from the mailbox today when it came up void of CL again today! Maybe we'll be lucky tomorrow....

On the bright side, it gave me a chance to read a different magazine today that I would have put on the back burner if CL had come.

Molli - If you are looking for wasabi powder, you absolutely have to go to Noble Fish on the North side of 14 Mile Rd just east of Main (near Flipside Records and Ace Hardware). It is the best Asian market around. They have wasabi in a tube, wasabi in a really big tube, garlic flavored wasabi in various size tubes, and of course the powder (in multiple size cans). They also sell raw sushi grade fish, oriental groceries, and have an awesome little sushi bar in the back. I love to get all my sushi making supplies there, as well as the udon noodles, edamme, soy sauce, and soup mixes. Awesome selection. Being in Royal Oak, you have no excuse to stop by. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Oh yeah, I still haven't gotten my March issue yet. :(

Karen-

Thank you for the info about Noble Fish! I may have to head out that way tomorrow- want to try the Wasabi marinated Flank steak.

I have to admit, I grew up near Grand Blanc and have lived in RO for a little over a year and a half :o

Still haven't received the March issue, but my mom who lives all of 1/2 mile away received hers YESTERDAY. We're in central NJ. Oh well at least I can take a peek at mom's.

In what order are those things mailed out anyway?!
