Sticky Corn Cakes

I was very excited to make the Spicey Corn Cakes with Chilies and Smoked Cheese. I followed everything exactly...even making the egg-whites fluffy first...I sprayed the skillet with oil...they would not come off...needless to say my trash barrel got a great appetizer this morning...has this happened to anybody else?

Lizz13.1, I have made this recipe lots of times and never had this problem. Did you use a nonstick skillet?
