Hi all! :) I'm back for my weekly check in and trying to catch up a bit.
More good news to report. I was indeed down another pound at last week's weigh-in and according to the scale this morning, I am down another 2 pounds for my weigh-in this week. That brings the total to 8 pounds lost in about 7 weeks. I'm only one pound away from the initial goal I set for myself, but I think I will likely shoot for losing another 4-5 pounds more, but probably no more than that.
I have finally realized that although I have been going through the motions of trying to get back into shape, I don't know if I ever really, truly believed that I COULD lose the weight I've been wanting to shed. I knew I could keep myself from being obese (I had been heading in that direction and nipped it in the bud), but I don't think I really believed that I could get to a point where I was actually happy with the way I looked. Since having success with the WW online program, I think I finally believe it! :)
Part of the problem is that I don't think I've ever had my eating AND exercise going successfully at the same time. I've had moderate success with one or the other, but never at the same time. Either my exercise really wasn't intense enough or my eating really wasn't careful enough. Now that I have both going, I'm seeing the results I haven't been able to achieve in the last 7 years!
The not-as-good news is that although I need smaller clothes, I also dropped a cup size :D . Oh well, I'm happy with a size B (and it sure as heck beats being a size DD - which I "achieved" while nursing my sons), but I really don't want to go all the way back down to a size A that I once was! :) I don't think that will happen - my A-cup days were back when I was very thin - I'm shooting for a weight that will be at least 10 pounds heavier than that.
So, this week's plan is to just keep on keepin' on. Have a great week everyone! :) :)

I had a not so good exercise week.
I had a work week where I was doing some things I normally don't do. It was mentally draining, as well as physically by the end of the day. I am in biotech sales, so nothing like lifting, but a lot of driving and being "on". I did get a lot more walking in than usual but nothing to count as exercise.
SO, I didn't work out, at all last week. I know.
I felt so down on Thursday night. It was a combination of things, but not exercising didn't help matters. I was in the biggest funk.
Today, I woke up and felt so much better. I did some exercise and feel good.
Luckily, my eating was fine. My clothes are still fitting fine, but mentally, I felt heavier and *possibly* flabbier. After my workout, I feel like a new woman.
I have learned a valuable lesson. I have never really experienced this before. Exercise is as good for the mind as the body. I really think I wouldn't have been in such funk for 2 days, had I just went to work out, even for 10 minutes.
This week I am in Columbus for work. Last week, I debated taking my workout stuff. Now, it is in the bag. I need it.
My goals:
4 days of exercise
Be in control of my fod- just b/c I am out of town for work doesn't mean I can go willy nilly!
Get at least 8 glasses of water a day - can't drink as much when I am at meetings

O.K. I better check in before I get to far along...
Last week wasn't bad - a bit of cheating (I had a few bites of desert when I was at a Purim dinner). It's the first actual desert (I mean other than the tofutti cutie I have occassionally after dinner) I've had since the middle of January. It was less than one portion of apple crisp with about three tablespoons of ice cream. That is what I miss most - ice cream. But I think I'm over the hill of wanting to eat that stuff. My clothes are starting to fit a bit differently so I have a vested interest in not 'falling off the wagon'. I had sushi one evening with a friend. That's not really on my diet - but I don't think it did too much damage. It did more damage to my wallet then my waistline I think.
I have a food extravaganza on Thursday - I want to be able to eat what looks good there - it's a grazing sort of thing - not a real dinner but enough that you eat a ton of stuff standing up.
I exercised well all week - five days.
In order to be able to eat what I want (within reason) on Thursday, my goals this week are:
exercise - 5 days
water - 70 oz per day at least
eating - continue to examine in between meal snacking - eat fit meals - I think DH and I are having salads for most dinners this week.
Saturday - weigh myself.
Happy March all...
Dena.

Well, my week last week was pretty good. I "journalled" my eating for almost every day and I really watched the little snacks that I usually have (like a couple of chips from my kids' plates, or one little candy here and there) and was pretty good about portions. I worked out a little less than usual (just 4 days instead of 5 or 6) because of a very hectic schedule and very cold weather.
Anyway, I weighed myself yesterday and I'm up about 3/4 of a pound  I'm hoping it is because it is my TOM. I'm going to really watch it this week and hope for better results next week.
goals:
reasonable portions
less snacks/better snacks
fulfill the 21-day challenge (today is day 5)
fewer sweets

Well I was feeling crummy last week-exhauseted from sis's wedding and I had a cold- and didn't work out once. I ate alright, though and got in a lot of fiber, which counts for something I guess. Back on the wagon this week. I started the 21 day challenge yesterday, so I'm on day 2 and I plan on doing some bellydancing--the "basic moves" part of the DVD, which is mostly stretching/Tai Chi/ Qi Gong type of stuff; and maybe the treadmill IF my colon is up to it because my IBS is really acting up and I don't know how long I can stay on a treadmill before I have to get off to run to the bathroom . Likewise with going for a walk. But I'm at least going to get in 30 minutes of light exercise/stretching today. I can really tell a difference in my torso, but again, the butt won't budge. Oh well, at least my middle is starting to look lean. And according to the dr's scale, I've lost 5-6 lbs in the past month and it's about my TOM AND I was feeling very bloated because because of that and IBS(is it just me or do dr's scales seem to weigh heavy???). Anyway, crappy week last week, better week this week.
Goals:
Water, water everywhere
Keep up the 21 day challenge (on day 2)
Watch my mid-day snacks
Don't let my "angry tummy" syndrome get me down--flare ups are bound to happen and at least I'm working with a doctor on it now
Put some lotion on my hands!! Sometimes I get so involved with taking care of my insides I forget about the outsides-my hands are so cracked and dry!

Hi Everyone,
Well, had a pretty good week last week. Went to the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday. My plans for Thursday were thwarted by a big snowstorm and so we did not go to the gym that night. Fortunately, I got some exercise in on Friday when I shoveled my driveway!
Jen, good to hear you are getting back on track. You must feel better at least knowing that you are doing something to help fix the IBS problem.
KelLeg, those "little snacks" kill me too. I have been trying to eat a snack late in the afternoon to tide me over, but I still find myself snacking while I am cooking dinner.
Dena, congrats on getting to the gym 5 days last week. That is quite an accomplishment.
Molli, isn't it funny how you don't think you'll feel better after a workout, and then you do? For some reason I sort of like having sore (not painful) muscles.
Alysha, WAY TO GO on getting the eating and exercise going at the same time. That must feel great!
We had supper club on Saturday night. Boy, am I glad that it is "Cooking Light" given all the food that is there! Luckily it is pretty easy to make good choices. I NEVER eat an appetizer AND dessert except at supper club! But, we did an Island Theme, and with the temp outside being 10 degrees and 10 inches of snow, that was a welcome theme.
Goals for this week:
1. 3 bottles of water/day
2. Gym three times
3. Yoga on Friday and once over the weekend
Have a good week everyone!!

Lara, I have a couple of tips to curb snacking while cooking dinner. One is a WW tip I read: chew gum. My other one is carrot chips. I buy those and pull out about 6 and munch those while I cook. I avoided a couple of little snacks today. I almost took a Jolly Rancher today that was offered at store, but I abstained (a very small victory, but a victory nonetheless, especially since I love hard candy) and I also didn't touch the cupcakes I made for my daughter's class. In fact, I'm doing no sweets today at all. I do that every once in a while just to prove (to myself) that I can!

KelLeg, those are good ideas. I can't chew gum because I have some issues with TMJ but I do try to snack on veggies. What are carrot chips? Are they like baby carrots? Or like potato chips?

Boy, I am late this week.
Everything is moving along just fine. I am on day 12 of a 21 day exercise challenge with desertdaisy so, I am doing well with getting my exercise in. Eating is really good. Dh and I have been building a gazeebo in the back yard so eating has been lower on the priority list for the past several days. This week I am just going to keep going. I hope that when I step on the scale at the end of this week that it will read 202. I will let you know if it does.
navandoren....welcome to the group. The more the merrier.

Lara, when I say carrot chips, I'm referrring to carrots that are cut into "chip" shapes. They are crinkle cut into rounds. I just like the shape. They are great for dipping, too, though I don't do that during dinner!
I think I might be headed towards TMJ, but I still chew a lot of gum. I'm dreading the day my dentist tells me to stop!
Welcome to you, navandoren! Congrats on your weight loss.
