I was just wondering if anyone followed Gin Miller's exercises that appear monthly in CL? If so, have you seen results? I am considering starting some weights and was wondering what you thought of her program?

I have a hard time following exercise plans in magazines. But I do enjoy her videos which she has several of. I believe most of them are aerobics with toning thrown in. I would think if you stuck with the her toning exercises that appear in CL you would definitely see results as most of the exercises she shows, I do on other strength training videos. With great results!

I don't follow her specifically (I don't take the magazine to the workout room and go step by step, anyway) but I have recently started working with weights and absolutely love it. I've seen a few results so far....
* more toning all over (arms, legs, abs, back; sometimes it's a reduction in inches, some places it's just a defined muscle where it used to be blob)
* feeling stronger in general (the endorphins from weights are different than running/aerobics, that's my opinion, nothing scientific)
* great feeling of accomplishment
It looks like Gin's exercises are pretty standard. If you like the magazine, then go for it. I'd recommend getting a whole book with lots and lots of exercises so you can pick and choose, vary your workouts, and get more in-depth understanding of what each exercise does and why. A good place to start is the library, so you can sample a bunch of books without having to commit.

I have just started the workouts for the year 2002. The problem I have is that you only see Gin in one position and I'm not quite sure about my form. I wish there were a couple of different views to demonstrate where your body should be at different points. I have had to ask different people if they think I have interpreted the directions correctly. Overall, I like the routine and I download the printable version from the website and put them into a plastic sleeve that I can flip when necessary.
