In case you didn't follow the Austin threads, I was down there last week and met up with some BBers for dinner. Me, NydiaC, Robyncz, and m4star got together Thursday night for food and fun, and I had a GREAT time!! We got to know each other, gossiped about the board, and they all gave me the inside scoop on living in Austin. Claire (Anna), sorry we missed you -- next time!

I had a great time, too. What struck me most was how completely different we all were (in terms of background, career path, lifestyle, interests, etc.), but we all share one common interest: good food and healthy cooking. Without this board, there's a good chance I never would have met any of you! Cooking Light has broadened my horizons yet again!!
Thanks to all of you for a great evening!

Sheesh. I wish I could have been there. I was wondering how everything went.

I had fun too :)
I don't think we are too different, just at different points in life. We all are very friendly, kind, out-going, easy to talk with, enjoy Buttermilk Chess Pie, etc... Those are some mighty important things. Age, neighborhoods, and careers to me don't seem quite as important anymore (after the gloom of September 11th). What is important is meeting new people, sharing some good times, and living life to the fullest. I thank each of you amazing women for making Thursday night a great example of what life is all about!!
And that tomato coconut soup was totally something too!!

How awesome you guys! This board really is great. Robyn, I could have written your post exactly. I've said that exact same thing many a time, especially in regards to my supper club; all of the members I met through the Supper Club Exchange Board. I highly doubt I would have met any of them otherwise, we all have such different lives, but they are some of the most wonderful people I've ever met, and am so happy to call all of them my friends now.
So glad you all got to meet and have a great time! It's so wierd to me sometimes that we all physically live so far away from each other, when I feel like I "know" so many of you so well, as if we lived next door to each other. The world sure is smaller and smaller every single day.....
Glad you had a great time. Had we not unexpectedly found ourselves in the middle of buying a house and getting ours ready to sell, I was considering driving over to Austin to meet you all -- especially since I've been talking to Aggie94 about the legal market in TX.

I had a wonderful time too. :D It's really nice to finally put faces to names. Two years ago I never would have even considered meeting, in person, people I had talked to on a BB (heck, 2 years ago I wouldn't have been caught dead on a BB  ). After all this time here, though, I really feel like I know you guys. It's not like meeting strangers; I didn't feel awkward at all. We should do this again sometime, after all, we still need to meet Claire, and anyone else in the "neighborhood".
Eva, next time you're in town (when you come back for those follow-up interviews or house hunting...positive vibes, positive vibes...), if you have a chance, we could get together again. After all, there are many, many more great restaurants in this town. :D
