I finally made the beef carbonnade last night after it sitting in my "To Be Made" pile of recipes since March. It was good, but to be perfectly honest it didn't blow me away or anything. After all the prep and cooking time, and being listed in the "back to the best" column, I expected something great. I don't think I'd make this one again. But, of course, that's only my opinion. :-)

I made this a few weeks ago. I wasn't all that impressed either. I had to serve it in soup bowls, since there was so much broth. It doesn't thicken at all. I served the leftovers over mashed potatoes, and thought it was better than over noodles, but would not make again.

I agree. I made it back in March or April when we had company coming for the weekend. My husband and I liked it ok, but for the time it took, it really wasn't anything that different or exceptional. In fact, I thought I probably could make something pretty close in a lot less time.

Thanks for the info!!! I also have this in my "need to make" pile, and after your responses, I doubt I will. There's too many other recipes I need to try!!
