This BB is cookbook central so I know someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

I'm not a wine drinker, but I have found that cooking with it adds something wonderful to some of the dishes I've made. Can anyone recommend a good cookbook for cooking with wine, or other alcoholic beverages?

Many thanks!

Just bumping this up before the weekend lull is upon us!

I've got two books on the subject, one which is lousy, the other may not be your cup of tea since it's pretty '80's (Frugal Gourmet Cooks with Wine)

Have you thought of checking your library to see if there are any on the subject? That's always a good way to "test drive" a cookbook, I think. I know some of our Northern California wineries have put out books (Wente comes to mind) as well as one called The Vintner's Table, by Simi Winery, but apparently only available through the winery. I've looked at the Wente book, but in all honesty it left me cold when I thumbed through them in the book store.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck!

Thanks Gail. I'll check out the library this weekend, though much of the stock there is rather old, too. Perhaps a trip to Barnes & Noble is in order... always a dangerous expedition (for my checkbook), but if I find something that looks good I could always make a note of it and look for it on eBay or half.com.

I appreciate your input!

I've watched the cooking series for Joanne Weir's Cooking in the Wine Country for a while and all of the recipies look great. She has several books to choose from. Just check with Amazon.com.

Thanks for the reminder, DmOrtega! On Saturday I tend to leave the TV on all day for cooking shows on PBS (no cable - what can I say - I'm a relic from another time!) and I've seen a few of her shows. In one episode she made a fresh corn soup that looked delicious! I'll look her up on Amazon.com tonight and see what she has to offer.

Many thanks!
