I pulled the recipe for Pan-Seared Tuna with Onion-Soy Vinaigrette from the CL website recipe finder. What a great recipe! If you love the Asparagus with Browned Butter, I think you'll love this tuna recipe, too. When I recommend the Asparagus recipe to friends, I tell them that the great thing about it is that it is SO easy and quick, and tastes delicious and complex. Same for this recipe:
You make the sauce, which is very easy--low sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, olive oil, pepper and onion. Then you pan sear tuna steaks sprinkled with salt & pepper and a coating of oil. And you're done! Put tuna on plate, pour sauce over tuna. Eat.
(Well, kind of. The recipe calls for the tuna to sit on a bed of julienne-cut carrots, celery, and cucumber. I didn't want to take the time to julienne, so no bed for my tuna.) I served this with roasted green beans; the sauce went well with the beans, too.
I'm a big fan of balsamic marinated tuna steaks; the nice thing about this recipe is that no time needed for marinating. If you love CL's soy sauce based sauces/marinades, you'll enjoy this recipe!

I'd like to try this recipe, but not with tuna...what other fish do you think would be good with this recipe?

Julie :)

I think you could easily sub any "meaty" fish, like swordfish.
Tastewise I think the sauce would be fine on most fish (well, not sure about salmon) but the tuna held together really well for pan searing. Also, because they call for tuna steaks, the fish cooks very evenly with pan searing. My thoughts!
