View Full Version : POLL: Best CL year and how much did you pay...
I've been trying to find the Complete CL cookbook and the only one I can find costs $52 (Can). That seems a little pricey to me. How much did everyone else pay?
Also, I've found some old CL annual recipes (dating back at least 10 years)--is there one that you would recommend? Is there one annual that you use more than others?
TIA,
Julie http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Julie - I found CL Annual Recipes 1999 a couple of weeks ago at Borders for $5.99US. It was on their clearance shelf. I read another post earlier today re: this subject & they suggested checking out www.half.com. (http://www.half.com.)
I don't know that one book is better than another...I try to buy the Annual Recipes periodically...when I find one I don't have.

The Costco here had the CL Complete Cookbook for $29.99. That was about a month ago, don't know if they still have it though.

Hi Julie,
I noticed you are from Canada and I was just wondering where you found the old CL annual recipes. I have only managed to find them at Chapters which means paying full price, I know someone awhile back posted about a discount on line store where you could get slightly used books for great prices but not applicable in Canada.
Julie, do you or any other fellow Canadians have any tips for getting discounted copies of old or current CL cookbooks, the Complete cookbook is #1 on my christmas list this year!!
Thanks
Terri
Hi-
I posted on another thread where they were talking about the CL complete cookbook (the one with the blueberry cake on the cover).
Anyway, I was sent an offer in the mail from CL for this cookbook. The offer was 4 payments of 4.99 each plus shipping and handling. I would also get a free insulated lunch tote. The only condition was that they would send me offers "no more than 2 times per year" for other cookbooks - but I did not have to buy - just send back the card indicating I don't want that selection...
If this seems a cheaper way to get the book - you might try contacting CL about it - I think I got it because I had recently renewed my subscription.
Anyway - maybe that helps.
Also, if they have discount bookstores in your area (like a Halfprice books or something - I have seen the annuals books there on several occasions - usually priced less than 20 dollars.

Hi Terri,
I found some old CL annuals on the Chapters website under "out of print and used books." They are still sometimes quite pricy, but I did see a few for ~$25.
I've also seen a few listed on ebay, very cheap.
Good luck! Let me know if you find any great bargains!

Julie,
I bought my Complete CL Cookbook from www.buy.com. (http://www.buy.com.) It was about $20.00 US. I find that their books are usually cheaper than amazom.com or barnesandnoble.com. I purchased six other books at the same time (early Christmas shopping!), so the shipping and handling charges were very small overall. I also received the offer in the mail to buy it with four installments of $4.99 each, but after I paid for S&H if was cheaper from buy.com. Hope this helps. Do get it! It is a wonderful cookbook. I also have the last four Annual Recipe Cookbooks and I use them all of the time. I can't say one is better than the others.
