My girlfriend told me she was thinking about having a Southern Living Demo. I had never heard of such a thing! I thought I'd had been to every demo out there! She said they sell cooking stuff and Cooking Light cookbooks.
Has anyone heard or been to one of these? She says they're the lastest demos out there!

Not sure if this is the same thing, but a few years ago, I went to a Southern Living "Cooking School" and found that most of the booths were devoted to signing people up as party hostesses for some new venture.
Once they realized I wouldn't be signing up, they were quite rude to me, so I was NOT impressed.
I think their parties were going to be selling dishes and other housewares. Not sure if this is the same thing your friend heard about though.

I wasn't impressed with the 'Cooking School' either. (what a joke! they made recipes featuring sponsor's ingredients that they talked about with every other breath. Explaining techniques of cookery was pretty low on the agenda.)

I have heard of these because they've been mentioned on these boards. I just can't remember what they're called so I can't even do a search. There's hasn't been a lot of talk about them and I don't know anyone that has had one. I don't think they've really caught on here. And this isn't the cooking school--I've been to that and agree fully with the above post. If I remember, I'll edit this post.

I've never been to one of the parties, but I think they sell decorative-type things, maybe some kitchen gadgets, and I think some packaged mixes (breads, desserts, etc.). It is basically a party plan like tupperware, pampered chef, the candle thing (can't think what this is called). I imagine it is like any of these other parties -- if you enjoy going to them and have a little extra cash to spend on things that probably aren't essential (or don't mind going and not buying anything), it could be fun. I don't know anyone who has ever been to one of these parties, but there is a woman with a child in DD's preschool class who is one of the consultants and is always trying to get me to host a party when I see her (even though I only see her twice a week at pickup time, and don't know her otherwise!).
