I would LOVE if someone would post when they see a May CL sighting on the newsstand. My subscription ran out (early and without a renewal notice) so I have to buy May's issue and forego the excitement of actually going to my mailbox and seeing it inside. :(
Hi Eva- Actually I find it pretty exciting to go into the grocery store and have it sitting there! I have to be careful not to pounce on it so people won't think I am weird!!! I place it very carefully on the belt- away from anything that could crease it and I cringe if the teller puts in roughly in my bag! See it is very exciting buying it at the store!:D

When I opened this thread, I was hoping that someone was saying that they had received their May issue already. I can't wait and am anxious to hear what is in it!

Yea! Got mine in CO today too! The cover is a glazed pork loin with 3 fruit salsa - looks scrumptious.
Articles are:One Great Grilled Dinner with Pork Loin or Tuna with above glaze (Maple and Bourbon) includes veggie sides and Grasshopper Pie for dessert.
Art of Low Fat Baking including Blackberry Jam Cake, Cinnamon Cookiesand Double Caramel Turtle Cake among others.
Back on the Menu with Flank Steak with Cilantro Almond PestoFrittata with Smoked Cheese and Canadian Bacan and a few shrimp recipes.
Cuban Cooking Everything here looks like heaven! Marinated chicken and several mixed drinks.
All About Cheese Monteray Pizza and Stuffed Onions!
Reader Recipes These look pretty good with some risotto recipes and enchiladas.
Flatbreads and Spreads This is the veggie section. Its not as much my style but there's pitas and naan with things like chutneys and salsas.
There's also a Mother's Brunch and an article on recipes made with foods high in antioxidants. Back to the Best is Malaysian Chicken Pizza and it looks fantastic! This looks like a great magazine and I'm going to start cooking right now!
If anyone wants recipes let me know and I'll try to oblige.
Oooh!! It sounds terrific!!! Flatbreads and spreads are MY kind of thing!! We get new mags on the stands here on Wednesday- I can hardly wait!

Denise ... mmm ... cuban cooking? .. takes me back to my vacation last year there ... fantastic food!! ... what chicken recipes do they have using Cuban techniques?
Denise
04-20-2002, 09:35 PM
Yorkshirepud - There is a Pollo Rancho Luna which is chicken breasts marinated in mojo with an onion relish. It looks very quick and easy and I will definately be making it. There is also a Arroz con Pollo that has Bijol seasoning, sofrito, and saffron. There's a Picadillo, Carne con Papas, Filete de Cerdo con Adobo (marinted in orange and lemon juice).......It all looks fantastic! I haven't made anything from the ethnic section in quite awhile, but I plan on making most of these.
Aggie94 - Holy Cow is right! Wait until you see the picture of this one! It's a pretty long recipe, but if you're dying for it I would be willing to type it out. I plan on making it tomorrow or next week.

Oh, Denise - that's sweet of you to offer! Don't worry about it, though. I probably wouldn't get around to making it anytime real soon, and I suspect that I should be able to find the May issue on the newsstands in the next few days. But thank you!!

Got my May issue today. At first it seemed early but it isn't. It just seemed that way because my April was so late.
I'm glad though. There really wasn't much I wanted to make from April. Although what I did make was good.

Grace and Ralph -
I got mine in Downers Grove today, so yours can't be too far away. I wonder why they show up on different days even in the same area. Pretty strange. Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow!

Yeah, it's showing up in the south, maybe mine will be here soon. I haven't received my Bon Appetit magazine either. Oh well, there are several more things in the April CL that I haven't gotten around to trying yet, so I have plenty to keep me busy until mine arrives.

And here I sit, with no May issue, wondering if it's even going to come.
I just renewed my subscription and I'm not sure if I made the deadline for getting the May issue or not.

Got mine today. It looks like a pretty informative issue (at least for me). Lots of information on cheeses and lowfat baking. Monterey Pizza, Baked Onions with Feta, Creamy Spinach and Mushroom Enchiladas, Rhubarb Custard Bars, Spinach and Tomato Strata, Tofu Breakfast Burritos, Apple-Oat Muffins....those are some of the recipes that stuck out at me as sounding good. I'm going to have to take a better look later.

And by the way, read the From the Editor column. Many of us participated in the survey a few months ago regard CL covers. This was one of the issues!

The Spicy Macaroni and Cheese caught my eye. Is it a CL recipe? If so, can you direct me to it?
Many thanks,

Yeah, I was wondering if I could find time to make that for Sunday-- but maybe there are people for whom there can be too much chocolate.
I just got mine in Houston today, and I usually see it in Kroger by the time I get it. Maybe they are actually waiting until the month changes to put out the new issue like they used to.

No, it's not a CL recipe. I found it through www.recipelink.com, formerly kitchenlink.com. It's actually on Good Morning America's web-site & is a recipe of Sara Moulton's. Here's the link: http://abcnews.go.com/onair/GoodMorningAmerica/recipes/recipe981023_maccheese.html
