It's really nice to see someone else from CA. I'm up in Napa. Everyone seems to be from the east or the south. Are you in any of the supper clubs they have going on down in So Cal? I haven't found one close to me up here, and have thought about starting one up, but just don't see anyone close.
Have a great weekend!

I'm also in Orange County. Where did you move from 56grapeape? I also love it here except for the HIGH rents http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif but that's the price you pay for living in almost paradise!

Penny,
I am in Northern California also. However I am REALLY in Northern California, as in Redding. I believe that is at least a 2 1/2 hour drive from you. However, considering the entire United States, we are practically neighbors. We do have a CL Supper Group up here that is very successful. Wish you were closer because we are looking for another member. There is someone from your area...I think her name is Laura and she is from Glen Ellen (?? not EXACTLY sure on either point!)
56grapeape - I have seen several people from Southern California on this BB. There is for sure someone from San Diego. Can't remember her name at this moment.
Greetings to all of the other Californians!!
Peggy

I'll bet you're thinking of KimKelly. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Grapeape (love that name!),
Run a search for a thread posted by Natasha a couple of weeks ago having to do with restaurants in San Diego. There are at least a couple of people who should be fairly close to you. I also found people on the Supper Club Board who are in your area. If you're curious, you'll have to reset the page to display posts for 100 days or so.
pvavricka,
There were a couple of ladies in Northern CA interested in starting a supper club. Neither seems to have gotten any takers. Problem is that they're quite far from you-- San Rafael and Sausalito. Have you tried posting on the supper club board? (In case you're interested in traveling down to Marin or seeing if these two are still interested) you'll have also have to reset the page to display older listings.
Good luck!

I'm in San Diego, too, in the Escondido area. Wish I was a little closer to the beach, but considering I can get there in 20 minutes, I'm not complaining.
Welcome to San Diego 56grapeape! Where did you move from? Where in SD did you settle? This IS a great place to live! Hope you're getting settled, adjusted and finding friends!
I live here in Escondido. Moved from Solana Beach (which I miss terribly!), but we found a nice house with a nice size yard. We wanted to stay close to the coast...but DIDN'T want to be right on top of our neighbors so we ended up here! I work in Poway and my husband works in Oceanside so it's a happy in between! Do a search on the following thread for more details of who lives where and yummy places to eat! Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Welcome to "almost paradise" as SoCal aptly said! I'll begin with the usual questions...where in SD are you? Where did you come from??? As someone mentioned earlier, I am in SD too. We are in Carlsbad, my husband works out of Ontario, and I, well, I work day and night (a lot of night lately... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif ) staying home with my two kids. We moved here from Louisville, KY where we spent 3 years. Before that we were in NO. California where we are both natives and both of our parents still live. pvavricka, you are so lucky! We love Napa. We spent a few years in Vacaville when my husband was based at Travis. We spent many a weekend touring the area. Anyway... we love it here in SD and hopefully this is it for us, someday we will retire here! I love this weather and I love living so close to the beach. Debg, I totally understand the yearning for a yard and not being on top of your neighbors! We got lucky and got a nice home with a fairly good size yard (for this area) and we back up to a hill so we have no one behind us. Not that anyone is interested in all this http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif .
So welcome to the area, hope you come to love it as much as the rest of us who live here!
