Thanks guys...you made my day!
DH and I had a nice day yesterday -- he took me out to lunch and then we went on a nice long hike with our dog. His parents made me a fantastic birthday dinner! His dad made salmon (my request :D ) and used the recipe from this months Martha Stewart. I think it's called Salmon with Leek Sauce? I'll post the recipe later if anyone is interested -- it was SO good.
And here's a funny story: DH (who absolutely HATES cooking) insisted that he really wanted to make me a birthday cake. So I printed out a recipe for a Devils Food cake for him. I sat in the kitchen while he made it so that I'd be nearby if he had a question about something, but since he was so excited to be making it on his own, I didn't really want to interfere. Well, he was doing fine until I looked up at one point and saw him pouring baking soda into a 1 cup measuring cup  . Before I even had a chance to say anything HE said "geesh, this is alot of baking soda", so I said "Are you sure that's right? How much does it call for?" and he said "yeah... it says 1 1/2 cups". Before he had a chance to add it to the mix I grabbed the recipe and said "honey, it's 1 1/2 teaspoons " We both had a good laugh. Oh...and the cake (with it's 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda) turned out really yummy!
Thanks again for the birthday wishes!!
Tracey
