I really want to try the Malaysian Chicken Pizza, but here is the catch...with out the chicken. So for all you creative non chicken eaters, do you have any ideas what would work. Tofu, tempeh or does that just sound gross......hmmmm.
Any input is appreciated!!

I'm assuming you want vegetarian substitutions. I don't know what tempeh is, but I think tofu would be a little...different. What about just using some other Malaysian/Thai type veggies. I think red bell pepper would be good. Some thinly sliced onions. Snow peas? Hmmm, what other veggies usually come on such foods? Anyway, that's what I'd do.

Sherri-

I would think, if you like Tofu, that it would be great on this. (I am not a tofu kind of girl ;) ) I wold just slice and bake it. It is the sauce that makes this pizza.

Wow, good timing!

I made a "BBQ Chicken" pizza on the weekend using "Lightlife" strips (fake chicken variety obviously) We just browned them and added the sauce. Was sooooo tasty. So I would think you could do something similar?

thanks everyone for your input.
I have been wanting to try the "fake" chicken strips, but not sure how they would taste, I will definitely have to try them!

Can I put in my vote for QUORN, if you can find it?

They sell "nuggets" which are NOT breaded and could be used for recipes like this. You would never know it wasn't chicken!

Lorilei,
I was wondering if Quorn would work...thanks...I will have to look for it this weekend...it is in the freezer section, right??

I ahve a silly question - but something I often wonder - if you don't like chicken, why would you want to put something on you pizza that looked/tasted like chicken? (unless it's purley for humanitarian reasons that you don't eat it.)

That is a good question...my husband asked me last night, "why not just eat the chicken." For personal reasons(I am a oncology RD and it is more a health reason for me)I have decided to stop eating all meat, poultry. I really do like the soy subsitutes out there and I would be fine with just having vegetables on the pizza, but I was exploring my options. Plus, I do most of the cooking and I want to make things that my husband enjoys also. As long as he has some type of protein source on the pizza he is happy, luckily, he is fine with soy. No, he doesn't count cheese as his protein source for some reason???
