I made these today and think they are great. As Lindrusso said on a previous post, they are not too tender but still very, very tasty. However they are so good it's a struggle not to eat them all myself before my husband comes home!

Some tips:I got 24 out of the recipe( as it states) but some of the tart shells were pretty skimpy so I think I'll try a smaller amount the next time (maybe 20). The picture in the magazine showed larger cups. Since mine were smaller, the filling ran over the sides of some of them so they didn't look as nice. Also I had to add a little more milk in order to form a ball out of the tart dough and I tried very hard not to mix or knead the dough too much.

ElinorC:

Thanks for the feedback on the pecan tassies. I think that I'm going to give this recipe a try for our next supper group get-together, along with some "blissful biscotti" which sounds a little time consuming to make, but fun to eat! There's no advoiding those tasties.....

I can't wait to make these, however I think that I read on another post that someone had trouble with the pastry, that it was chewy? I have had this trouble before when I've made my own pie pastry. Any suggestions on this would be great!

Thumbs up for this one from me also. I was able to make 24, but the crusts were rather thin. No problem with chewiness or anything else though. This was a great recipe since I already had all the ingredients in my pantry.

I was wondering if this recipe might work as a whole pie. The amount of filling corresponds with the amount for one pie. Would this crust work for that?It would be a lot easier to make one rather than 24!

I wonder if you could freeze these. Any thoughts?

I made these last night and only got 12 out of the recipe! Ahhh! Although I had a little left over and just didn't feel like making anymore. They were very cute and good however more work than I was expecting.

Abby,

I have a few in the freezer to test this question, so I'll let you know how they fare! I'm hoping they do okay so I can keep some on hand for the holidays. Time to gear up for holiday baking.....

Well, I took my two pecan tassies out of the freezer tonight and they tasted just as good as when I made them. They were in the freezer for a week in a tupperware container.

I even made the mistake of microwaving them too long - I only meant to defrost them but they ended up piping hot. And they still were delicious and didn't seem to lose any texture or flavor.

Yippee - another holiday item I can have on hand!!

JulieAnn-great idea to make as a pie, how long would you bake it? It seems less labor intense to make it as that way. Are you going to try it? Let us know!

Thanks Lindarusso - great to know they freeze well. I was wondering this myself. I cannot wait to make a few batches - they sound so good I hope there will be some left for the freezer!
