Strawberries

FOR ALL YOU CALIF. GALS: Our strawberry season starts right after Christmas. This year all you can find are the CAMAROSA type of berries. They have no taste, and they are hard, but they are great looking! The only good ones are called CHANDLER. There are 2 vendors in my farmers market that have those berries. That is where I buy them. The supermarkets have great sales, but the berries suck!

They must be shipping all the good ones out of state, because I have found some fantastic CA strawberries here for a few weeks now.

I'm in San Diego and we have had great berries since January! I always feel so spoiled. I don't have any idea what type of berries they are, but ours are very sweet and flavorful, (I get them at a local fruit stand and also the farmers market) somehow more flavorful when dipped in chocolate????;) Anyway, we have strawberries frequently. My latest is a starwberry salad with a balsamic dressing. I just discovered that these go together... better late than never.
