Did you put the green beens etc in the crock pot as well? Where they overcooked?

Oh good, I am going to make these soon. I'm glad to hear they were really good. Might be a good side for Thanksgiving.

56 - did you put the green beans in the crockpot??? The recipe doesn't read that way? Looks great - do you think it would be very different with shallots?

NO, i did not make the beans in the CP, i made them aside form it. They were really good! They would be a goreat Thanksgiving side dish. Im not sure if shallots would be good in them, I never use shallots, so i dont know. I used the mini cocktail onions.
(i did the chicken (w/ that recipes seasonings) in the CP)
It was a great meal overall!

I'm glad you liked the green beans. I found the mini coctail onions overwhelmingly vinegary! What kind did you use?

Denise,
Why don't you try the small pearl onions that you can buy frozen. There isn't any sauce on them. I've used these mixed with peas and I'm sure they would be good in the green bean recipe.

The frozen pearl onions is probably a good suggestion. I made the bean recipe, and thought the cocktail onions were very briney tasting. Ruined the dish for me. I threw them out. I think just regular sauteed onions would be delish...the pearl onions definitely prettier.

yea, i thought the cocktail onions were a bit strong also, but I did like them. (dh didnt care for the dish though, and dd didnt like the onions either) but next time, I may try the frozen pearl ones.

I have made this recipe twice. I, too, thought the pickled onions were too vinegary. The second time I made it, I just used quartered onions. This tasted alright, but the next time I make it, I will use small pickling onions. Tney should cook quickly and present better. This is a great recipe.
