Susann -- and all other Atlantans,
I went to Harry's Farmers Market today for the first time, and all I can say is OH MY GOSH -- wow, I was so in awe! I've never even seen some of the produce they had, only read about them in my many cookbooks! Absolutely going to have to turn my weekends into Harry's daytrips! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Emily-I had a feeling you would love it there! My best friend laughs at me because I find it relaxing to walk around the place. Be warned-you are now going to be too spoiled to get your produce from a grocery store! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I completely agree...I consider myself aptly warned http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I couldn't get enough of the wine section, either...wow, they have such a great selection! I never can seem to find enough German wines, and they have a plethora of them! Gosh, I was in heaven!

Emily-I tend to forget about the great wine selection because I usually end up going on Sundays. I think you have just motivated me to go today!!

for all of you not in Georgia-yes, you may be laughing now. I kid you not when I say we Georgians cannot buy wine on Sunday!! Perhaps we should send our lawmakers a link to this BB so they can see what we are all missing out on!

I love HARRY's Market!!! I live in SC so have to REALLY plan to go there when I'm in Atlanta. I just told a friend I needed to go shopping in Atlanta....ideas were Commerce Outlets, Mall of Georgia, Lenox Mall, AND HARRY'S!!! :-)

Produce is wonderful...but I LOVE their bread department! The fish counter is also incredible....unfortunately, I haven't dared to try to pack fish to drive back 150 miles! Oh well.

Melman,
Just a word of caution...I may not need to tell you this, but do try to avoid Lenox on Saturday...it's absolutely horrendous! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif Also, what kinds of shopping are you doing? I would love to give suggestions of some really cool shops if you're interested. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
Gosh, isn't Harry's excellent? I've been telling everyone about it!

Melman-I want to ditto what Emily says about avoiding Lenox on Saturday-especially during the holiday season-arrggghhhh!

Also, if you really want to bring seafood home, I have a suggestion-what if you bring a cooler (I think Harry's even sells them)? If you ask, they will pack your proteins (Meat, poultry, fish ) in ice. I get them to do this, even though I am only driving about 15 minutes.

I've thought about trying a small purchase of some kind of fish just to see if I can successfully get it back home. I've had success with cheese without any problem...just threw it in a cooler with one of those blue ice blocks. Seems like I've read somewhere that you need to really be careful with fish even when buying it at a local store.

You're both right...I've avoided Lenox on ALL weekends because of the traffic. :-) I was fortunate enough to have 5 or 6 weeks of training back in the spring in the Perimeter Mall area. I took at least one trip to Lenox each week I was there. The to-be-planned shopping trip would probably be "the girls" (various friends, my sister and s-i-l have all acted interested). If that happens, it will be generic shopping. If I get to come back for training...I'm interested in any wonderful suggestions!! PS...with each of those training weeks, I managed to go to Harry's at the beginning of the week...and again as I headed out of town!
