Last night I was using a little kitchen machine that I forgot all about while reading the recent threads. Ronco puts out this little contraption called dial-o-matic. It is supposed to sell for $30, but I bought one in a discount place for $10. By turning a blade, it thick slices, thin slices, does thin julienne veg. in a flash, and thick julienne. I use it ALL the time. It can be viewed on their website.

Certainly not better than a cuisinart...two different uses. I use my big cuisinart for bulk cooking, chopping lots of veggies, stuffing for Turkey day, etc. I use the little slicer for slicing one or two potatoes or onions in uniform thin slices. Also, I use it to julienne, since I don't have that disk for cuisinart. For the average family meal, my slicer and/or chopper work and clean in a flash. The cuisinart takes too much effort unless I am doing LOTS.
