Legal Seafoods
Union Oyster House
Sage (a new restaurant in the North End)
LoConte's (north end, hearty food, good prices)
Olives
Kingfish Hall (at Fanueil Hall)
Sonsie (on Newbury St - the food is good, atmosphere better)

If you want "fine dining", hands down, I would say Biba's. It is expensive, but worth it. I had some of the best lamb there that I have ever had and I hate lamb! It is near Copley Plaza and right on that park where the "ducklings" are. You will need a reservation. I have heard that they were being renovated, which may be done now, so you will definately want to call first.
Another of our favorites is Lala Rokh in Beacon Hill. The food is Persian and not like anything I have ever had before. It made our mouths explode and we long to go back. The wait staff is seasoned at helping people order, so listen to them, sit back and let them bring you lots of new flavors.
Reviews, including Zagat's ratings of all Boston restaurants are at Citysearch.com Also, foodtv.com and the epicurious website have forums where people review and recommend restaurants in different cities.

Here's an AWESOME restaurant, if you don't know it's there you'd never find it! It is Sablone's Veal and Vintage house in South Boston. My family and I have been going there since before I was born!!! Dinner there after every flight from Logan as it is near the Callahan tunnel. I don't have the exact address I want to say prince st. maybe a web site? I'm sure a taxi could get you there. They have the BEST shrimp scampi, they use lemon and the sauce is to die for...gnocci is great and our favorite entree is veal limone...that lemon thing again. But really you can't go wrong with anything...the BEST tiramisu I have ever eaten...although...if you want italian pastry go to Mike's Pastry in the North End. They have the best. Get a box!!! This Sablone's is so unique, the decor is all clowns and the walls in the bar are all autographed by the famous people who've been there. A commercial restaurant chain just isn't as special. Frequently you'll get the owner, Angie, waiting on your table. Very expensive, although not when we first started going there! Really great food and atmosphere. Do the Fanieul Hall thing too...did I spell that right? Pizzaria Regina in the North End is great too for lunch...the chains aren't as good as the real original one in the North End. Another place we haven't been in a while is the Bay Tower Room, was very nice and great views back in the day. Have fun! I hope you get good weather for walking!!!

Glad you liked legal's! I know its a big "chain", but the food is really good, especially if you are coming to sample Boston's seafood!
Their fried calamari with spicy peanut sauce is yummy (clearly NOT healthy!)
