I'm looking for soup bowls that can be put under the broiler to use for onion soup. I'd like to have the ones made of tan colored crockery with a brown stripe around them and an extended handle if possible. I've looked everywhere and am unable to find them. Can anyone help me? They are probably antiques by now but would love to have them.

I have some similar to what you described except they are dark brown with a tan stripe and even have a little lid. I rec'd them as a Christmas gift from my husband's maternal grandmother and it was many years ago (we've been married 21 years and I'm thinking is't been about 18 years ago that she gave them to me). I checked the bottom but there is no mark by the maker so I'm really not much help but I'm thinking that if you check with antiques shops you might be able to find them. Sorry, wish I had been more help! And sorry for the rambling...

Here are some very nice crockery bowls - not quite what you described, but perfect for onion soup!

Last year I bought a set that sound just like what sneezles described. So I would guess that they are still being made. When I get home I'll check to see who makes them (I saved the box.) As I recall, I bought them at a cookware store in Vail, but I'm sure they can be found other places.

Here's another option--they come in white or navy and are like a mini tureen with a small handle. I'm not doing them justice, but check out the link.

If the link doesn't work, go to www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) and look under "soup" for the kitchen store.

Thanks everyone. Both of the pictured bowls would be good. If I can't find the other ones, I'll order some of those. You guys are the greatest!
