I did a quick search and it didn't look like anyone had talked about the new index style yet.
I really like it! I would get frustrated looking for something before not knowing whether it was meatless main dish or pasta - now they list the same recipe in all the applicable categories. And I really appreciate them marking the Quick, Make Ahead, and Freezable recipes. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the right justification of the columns - seems a little hard to read.
And it's nice to list the "Greatest Hits" there instead of in the beginning. I like to know what they are, sometimes it prompts me to try a recipe I was iffy about.
What do you all think?

The only thing I'd change is to have one of those colored dots for vegetarian items (salads, entreés, soups, etc.) so that they're easier to pick out at a glance.

I love it. For some reason it does seem easier to read, although I'd prefer a left-justification also. I'm not all the way through my issue yet, but I haven't noticed that much cross-indexing. That was a huge problem with the old system. But, in the June issue I found a dish I thought was an appetizer, but it didn't show up there. Might take a few months to get the kinks out. Also, the "dark green," "light green" dots might not be enough contrast.
But...thank you CL for updating the index!! It's the most important page of every issue!

I noticed and liked the overall format changes, but I missed this part completely! Thanks for mentioning it! I kept thinking that it would be great if they flagged freezeable recipes!

I have been very busy lately, so I try to cook ahead of time when I can. I was just thinking last month that it would be a useful feature if they could note which recipes were good ones to make ahead. What timing!

Thank you for bringing this up Kim. I was going to eventually. I really like it but was initially confused when I looked at the front of the magazine for the greatest hits and they weren't there. When I worked my way to the index, I was confused at first but like it now.

I too was excited to see the freezable markings but when I actually looked at them I was a little disappointed since most of them were desserts!
