I've looked and looked, but I can't find canned chipotle chiles in adobo sauce. I've tried Stop-n-Shop, Foodmaster, Wild Oats, Bread and Circus, Trader Joes...you name it.
Are there any Bostonians out there who have found this elusive item?
thanks!

I have had the same problem down here in New Orleans.
I actually found them during a visit at my mother's in Atlanta at a Harry's farmer's market. I stocked up on them and brought them back to New Orleans. My mother took the label off one can so that she can send me more when I get low.

I am in RI with the same problem...I got help from Val ( I think). She suggested the www.ethnicgrocer.com website. I plan to do a little shoppping trip there. There is a can of the peppers that popped up right on the first page!!

Why don't you ask your grocer to carry them? Tell them chipotles are getting popular, that's what I did.

I am in MA and I thought that I saw them at my local Trader Joe's. I know that you said you didn't find them there. But I'm just wondering if maybe they were out of stock. Perhaps you could ask them about carrying them. Besides maybe if yours doesn't stock them and they get enough of a request they will start.

beckms - as you are in Arlington, I found them very close to you!!! I found them at the Star Market on Mt. Auburn St. on the Cambridge/Watertown line. They were only $1.79 a can. They're in the Mexican food section, I think on the bottom shelf, small cans like tomato paste. The brand is Embasa. It's a red can with black letters saying Embasa in a white strip going diagonally up the can.
Good luck!

I found them at the Stop and Shop in Franklin, MA, so I'm sure your Arlington S&S could get them for you. Tell them that the Franklin store has them!;)

Leslie W, where do you buy your canned chipotles? We live in the same town and although I haven't looked for them recently, I don't ever recall seeeing them at any of the local grocery stores.
TIA,
Anna

They carry them at the Stop and Shop in Nantucket, too, which always makes me feel that if we have them, everybody else must have them! (It is far from a "Super" market!)
