I've volunteered to make a meal for a family in need and I am looking for some good ideas about what to make for a main dish. It needs to be something that I can cook ahead of time. And that is easy and good when reheated. There aren't any really restrictions except nothing real spicy. Anyone have any good ideas?

Thanks!

Chilli, stew, lasagne - these are all dishes which taste much, much better when a few days old.

Maura,
Soups and quiches are good too, as well as chicken casserole type dishes like chicken tettrazini or chicken divan. (Hey, we know each other! Isn't that cool?:)
If you click on the search button at the upper right corner and type in make-ahead casseroles, you'll see some threads with other links. I'm sure there are other search words you could use that would be even more helpful. Or call me---I can bring you some other ideas on Sunday if that's not too late!

Thanks for the search tip. I'm going to give that a shot. I thought I would look for something different. Then double it. One for us and one for the other family.

Too funny! What a small world. I saw your name and was like "No way". I was going to say something last Sunday, but I didn't see you.
