Just want to know - just received this 'chopper' and out of curiosity tried to chop lemons - didn't chop a one - does this thing really work?????????????? And the little slice and seal thing - what are good things to make with it - I feel like I should have a whole pile of little kids running around with peanut better & jam sealed sandwiches!!! haha - what else is it good for? great litle gadget though. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I for one love the chopper and I really don't think it would cut lemons, only because they have softish tendons - I find it fabulous for chopping onions, garlic, well just about anything in the diameter of the cutter blade - sorry to hear you are having a problem with the chopper - I do not have the sandwich maker you speak of - no comment http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I have the PC chopper and love it, i think i've had it for about 10 years! it works great on all nuts, great for when i make my stuffed mushrooms, for chopping the peppers, onions and mushroom stems. i've used it chop chocolate as well. the cut n' seal, try putting hummus, tuna salad, chicken salad, other adult friendly foods in it. It's also works with pastry dough to make small tarts! good luck with it!

I'm on my second Pampered Chef chopper; I broke the plastic blade protector on the first one by dropping it. I use it for onions, peppers, celery, etc. all the time. I also use it to chop up ham for westerns and tuna for tuna salad.

Play with it a bit - I'm sure you'll find what works for you.

BTW - I've got a Cuisinart food processor with 80 bazillion blades and attachments. I almost never use it, now - I reach for the food chopper instead.

I am another fan of the Pampered Chef Food Choppper. Just like Kimba, I have a Cuisinart food processor. But when it comes to chopping things, I reach for my PC Food Chopper first.

I make a pretty mean Baklava. When I started chopping the 2 pounds of nuts with my handy PC food chopper, the prep time was cut WAY down.

I find that the PC food chopper works best with things that are more firm - such as onions, nuts, peppers, etc.

Good luck! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I've used the chopper for nuts, onions, carrots, etc. I also have used it for almost all the jams I've made in the past couple of years....talk about cutting down the prep time!!! I used it on cherries, blueberries, peaches, and blackberries. It was so incredibly fast!!

I also saw the chopper used for an unusual item this weekend. I hosted a PC party at my house. We made cookies to demonstrate the new cookie press. With half the batter, we made drop cookies. The consultant experimented with different (leftover) Halloween candy. I actually watched her chop a Snickers bar! It worked!!!! (And the cookies were yummy!)

For those of you who don't yet have a pc chopper, I have an excellent one, which I think was less expensive. You can get wonderful choppers and other kitchen tools at http://www.zyliss.com

I use my chopper for mostly onions, garlic, ginger, artichoke hearts, and nuts. Oh, and also on the apples for Christina's Apple Torte. It is such a time saver! I usually don't use it on bell pepper; I've found the pepper is a little too tender for it. I had never thought of using it to chop tomatoes, but I saw this demonstrated at a PC party and have tried it myself since. Just slice the tomatoes first, stack a few slices, put the chopper over them and chop away. Worked great!

Joyce, I checked out the zyliss website. I click on List of Products, then click on one of the choppers listed, and I get a picture of the product with a description. No price and no option to order the product.

What am I doing wrong?

I am having a Pampered Chef party on Sunday and I truly appreciated the previous thread as well as this one. I emailed the previous thread to my PC consultant to let her know what everyone was saying about her products! Now I know that I must have a chopper, even though I have a food processor! Lucky to have a larger kitchen but it is filling up so quickly!! Do we really need all of these gadgets? I guess so, like my husband needs more tools! Thank you all for all of your input, this bulletin board has truly helped me to grow in many ways-...but not in weight!
Could I chop the dried fruits for a fruit cake for the holidays. Others have chopped up nuts, but what about cherries?

kentgirl - I just purchased the Chopper 80 or 100 (not sure which one) last night at a local kitchenware store. It was $19.95.

I tried it on prunes this afternoon (for the Dried Plum and Port bread -- it was very good, BTW). Even though I sprayed the blades with cooking spray, the prunes stuck quite a bit. I ended up chopping them by hand with a knife. I'd give it a try with cherries though -- I think part of the problem with the prunes is that they're soft, candied cherries are a little firmer. Good luck!

Kentgirl, you can get a list of stores up on the site I think (agencies) and there is a place to email contact the firm. You could probably order by mail.

At one time, I *THOUGHT* I remembered hearing that the PC chopper was actually manufacturered by Zyliss. I know they've changed models so even it it used to be the case, it may not be now.

I was told that the PC chopper is the only one on the market that opens up completely so it can be cleaned easily and so it can be loaded into the top rack of a dishwasher. I haven't looked at another chopper at a store so I can't say for sure. Before buying any chopper, you might see if it opens up. Even if the dishwasher isn't a concern, being able to clean it easily is a big plus.

Melman - not sure who PC is using as their manufacturer for food chopper now, but the Zyliss one does open up, maybe it is the same one?

I bought a PC chopper and hated it. I couldn't get it to chop a thing. Instead of chopping red peppers, it smashed them. Nuts and dried fruit stuck to the blades. I think that my small Sunbeam Chopper Plus does a better job.
