...to get ready in the morning?
On an average weekday morning, how long does it take you to get out the door? Including getting dressed, eating, packing lunch, getting kids out the door, etc?
I usually get up at 7:30, and I'm out the door by 8:50. I take a shower, do my hair (it takes me 10 minutes just to blow-dry my hair  ), pack my lunch, grab breakfast to eat at the office, and the one thing I must do every morning is sit down for 10 minutes, drink a cup of coffee, and watch the Today Show. Then I'm out the door.

I voted 3 hours. I wake up about 5:30, let the doggies out, make coffee, drink coffee and watch the pups play and talk to my husband, put lunches together if I didn't do it the night before, change into exercise clothes, take the older dog out for a run, come home, put breakfast together, eat b-fast with my husband, shower, dress, and (FINALLY) leave! I'm usually ready for a nap by the time I get to work!

I answered about 45 minutes to 1 hour. I usually wake up around 7am. I take a shower first, then eat some breakfast, deal with the kitties, finish getting myself ready, pack my exercise clothes, grab my lunch from the fridge, and rush out the door. I am usually at work around 8am.

I almost voted 30 minutes but when I read the post and realized everyone was counting from the time they got out of bed until they left their drive I realized 30 minutes wouldn't cut it. Normally, I'm up and leave my house in 30 minutes but I then drive to the barn and spend 30 minutes there so I voted for an hour. Normally, I pack my lunch the night before, put laptop, etc in the truck and hang my clothes for the next day on the door. I also go to bed with my hair wet so I don't have to wash it the next morning.

1.5 to 2 hours.
Alarm goes off at 5am, I'm usually up by 5.20 at the latest. I shower, do makeup, get dressed and am usually down stairs between 5:45 and 6:00 depending on when I actually go up.
I pack lunch in a cooler bag and put that, my briefcase & purse in the car (in the garage). I fix my breakfast (usually bacon & eggs), put away the dishes from the night before, empty the dishwasher if it's full, sometimes I have to wash sheets (if DD1 wets the bed). I fix the girls breakfast (DD1 gets to make the breakfast menu). I usually get DD2 up and dressed at 6:15 to 6:20, give her breakfast, then get DD1 up (about 6:30) and dressed. Then it's wash the coffee pot/breafkast dishes, get DD1 to brush her teeth, comb her hair, and then I have to do sunscreen on both girls.
Try to be out the door to the daycare between 7:oo and 7:10 each day.
DH gets up after I do, has his coffee and studys. Sometimes he helps put the dishes away or gets one of the girls up.

About an hour, 45 minutes if need be.
I get up, shower, makeup, then eat breakfast while watching the Today show. That's where my time varies; sometimes I'll sit there for a few minutes and watch, sometimes I just sit there long enough to eat my breakfast. Depends on whether or not I need to iron a shirt or anything like that.
Out the door between 8:20-8:40, at work 20 minutes later.

25 minutes. I have it pretty well down pat. ;) I set the alarm (though I often wake up before it goes off anyway), lounge around for about 15 minutes after the alarm goes off - though I don't hit snooze - then get up, shower etc., get ready, have a little something to eat or pack a lunch, talk with my SO and kiss him goodbye, and leave.
If I had kids, I'm sure it would be quite different, though. :p Even when I had a dog, it was different since I'd always walk him before work.

So -- are we counting from the first time my alarm goes off, or the second, third, fourth ...? :D I am so not a morning person.
Oh yes -- my getting-ready time drastically decreases if the computer remains off in the morning. :)

Up, showered, dressed, make-uped, smoothied, kissed, and out the door in 30 minutes or less.
It's an art form. :D

This is surprising to me. I'm actually a very high-maintenance person when it comes to 'getting ready', but I can whiz out the door on a work morning in 30 minutes on the average! :D On a weekend or a 'night out', however, I'm a 2 hour girl minimum.
I shower at night. Because my hair must 'air dry' for awhile before a blow dryer can touch it, it makes more sense to get my shower about 5:30 or 6pm while I'm cooking dinner and before DH gets home, so I don't have to deal with that in the morning. Also, DH doesn't have to be at work until 10am, but he gets up with me so we can spend time together and he can help me get out of the house in a timely fashion because I'm generally late. :D
Alarm goes off at 5:30. I hit snoozes until 6:00, then spend 10 minutes laying there in bed stretching/moaning/complaining/trying to think of excuses not to go to work, then get up at 6:10. ;) DH feeds the dogs, makes my coffee, pulls my lunch out of the fridge and packs my lunchbox. I put on my makeup while watching the news, then while I'm getting dressed and finishing my hair DH is warming up my car. I get a big smoocheroo and I'm out the door by 6:40am, at work (most of the time  ) by 7am!
And yes, I am already quite aware of how spoiled I am, thank you very much! :p

Up at 6:45, out the door by 7. This is with a shower, make-up, getting dressed, kissing DH goodbye and grabbing breakfast. My hair can't be touched by a blow dryer, so I let it air dry and fluff it up and pull it back from my face when I get to work (which takes an additional 30 seconds :D). And yeah, most days I look pretty darn pulled together.

I get up at 0445 and try to be out the door by 0545. I sometimes go over by five min. or so but not usually. I am very lucky as I live 5-7 min from work so there is actully no big commute time for me. I use the surface streets all the way there and the traffic is light at that time of the morning. I could get ready in less time but I like to have my coffee/reading time. I don't have to worry about what to wear as I am nurse and so I just pick out any uniform and throw it on and my hair is wash and go short 'cause I don't want to have to fuss with it in the morning, besides if it gets to long it starts making me look old and we all know that is not a good thing! I don't have to worry about getting anyone else ready as we all get up at different times in the morning so I am on my own in the am. This is probably the most relaxed part of my day!

OK.
Up at 6AM. Feed rabbits, make oatmeal & tea. Eat breakfast. Pick out clothes (sometimes iron). Shower & dress. Dry hair & brush teeth. Make lunch. Get stuff together & get out the door.
Leaving home between 7:15 AM and 7:30AM.
Boy, compared to other people, I don't get much accomplished in the 1 to 1.5 hours I have before I leave the house.

I voted other because while I get the kids up (LOL - who's kidding who? My kids usually get ME up! ;)), dressed, breakfasted (is that a word?), lunches made, shoes on, and out the door (with my husband); I work at home, and with some of my clients calling, am lucky to get out the door at all some days! :D

Alarm goes at 5:10, I throw shoes and a long sleeve on over my boxers I wore to bed, and take the dog for a half hour walk. Get home, shower, brush teeth, throw hair up in a twist to dry, throw clothes on, grab a peice of toast, wonder what to make for luch, throw something in a bag with two waters and out the door by 6/6:15. Grab a coffee at Dunkin Donuts on the way out of town and get to work by 7:30, if I am lucky!
If DH is motivated which rarely happens, he might make coffee in the morning, but he usually sleeps until I leave or lays in bed watching the news. Unless its hot like today and he was out the door before I was!

I am about 45 minutes to an hour. I work out usually first thing in the morning, but I don't count that as get ready time. My time really depends on how much I spend on the computer between showering and drying my hair
On my home office days, it is all of 2 minutes. Love most Mondays :)

I try to get most of my stuff ready the night before ie. clothes out, lunch baggie packed, coffee set up in pot. This way in the morning I get up and dressed, turn the pot on, doggie out, hubby up, make up and sandwich for hub and we're out.
If it's just me I can usually do it in 30 minutes or less :D

:( Man--I'm a slow poke!! And I thought I was doing GREAT to have pared my 80s giant hair-do down to a 10 minute blow-dry!! Here's my a.m. schedule for MW:
Up at 5:30--exercise for 1 hour
6:30--shower(takes me 20 minutes, but I only do it every other day), dress, get hair goo in
7:00--make coffee, drink coffee, eat bfast, chat with family, pack lunches and backpacks, do a final sweep of the kitchen floor, grab final stuff for work, etc.
7:30--blow dry hair, kiss family and grab lots of water for the road
7:45--out the door
Tuesdays I spend more time planning, surfing, cleaning, instead of showering--just a quick sponge down does it.
Thursdays and Fridays are similar, but less rushed--no work those days. Just playing with my kids.
I'd love to be wash and go, but I haven't found a hairstyle that will do that and still look good. Sigh.

Actually my wash and go hair is very plain. But that is all my hair does unless I spend an hour on it and then it falls out in two hours so I just don't bother with it any more. I would give anything to have a hair style that was a little more fun but my hair is very straight and fine and does nothing. I can't perm because I color and I can no longer claim "I don't color because of grey, I color because I don't like the real color of my hair". I have plenty of grey now and refuse to stop coloring. So I am stuck with my wash and go style.

I voted 1.5 to 2 hours. This includes a 20-30 minute dog walk, shower, get dressed, make breakfast, clean up after breakfast, pack gym bag, and get stuff together for work. I do not like to be rushed in the mornings, and I absolutely have to make time to eat a decent breakfast or I feel dizzy and sick by mid-morning.
Now, in a crunch, and depriving the dog of her walk, I can be showered, dressed, fed, and out the door in 30 minutes. But the dog doesn't like that, so I don't do it much. ;)

Who told you you can't do both? I have colored my hair for six years now and I get a perm every 2 or 3 years! My hair is naturally wavy so layer cuts usually kick the waves up a bit, but when I decide I want more body I get a perm! As long as it's on the purple and white rods (or even purple and orange) that are a little bigger, I have no problems whatsoever! I don't have any gray hair yet (prayer does work. ;) ) but I'm not sure that makes a difference! I say if you want a perm, talk to a stylist about it! There are plenty of gentle perms out there! :)

I have tried perming and it fried my hair. I swore I would never do it again. That was when my hair was long though... maybe now that my hair is shorter I could get by with it?????I don't know I am very tempted to try again....I am trying now to grow it out just a tiny bit from a basic pixy kinda thing. I am kinda thinking maybe a bit of a bob with some big curls? But then you have the extra expence of the constant color/perm kinda thing as it grows out.

I voted for the 30-45 minute range-but it is closer to 45 minutes. When I was younger, it took me longer-that was in the big hair days. :o When I go out, it is closer to an hour and a minimum of 2 hrs. for special occasions.
My radio alarm goes off at 5:30 and I spend the next hour dozing off and on and listening to a funny radio program. After staying in bed as long as possible, I will then get up, start the coffee pot, take out my prepacked lunch and then hit the shower.
After I retrieve my coffee, I go up and put on makeup which also doubles as "quality" time with my bird. He loves to "help" me with my makeup and occasionally tries to run away with brushes and lids. Then I dry my hair (every other day)and out the door I go where I am usually trailed by 2 beagles who want a biscuit.
You are good, Jen. I wish I could get out as quickly as you do. You must be a natural beauty.;)

If I go to the gym, half an hour, time to get dressed and have a coffee - I shower at the gym
If not, an hour or so

Naah. Just lazy and low maintenence :D. And it seems like the more I try to do to my hair and make up the worse it looks---so I just let it be. Well, not totally...I do put on a bit of foundation and powder and a tiny bit of blush and some lipstick and some mascara if my eyes aren't feeling sensitive...and I put styling products in my hair. I'm just FAST!

I said 1.5, up @ 5:30 take care of puppy, shower, hair, make-up. Thank goodness my DD is 13 she gets herself ready. We take turns making breakfeast :)One thing we do for sure is sit down together for breakfeast. I take her to school by 7:30 and away I go.....
How long it actually takes me to get ready is a different story from how long it takes to get out the door.
I'm up at 5:30, take both dogs out, feed them and the guinea pig and make coffee. After I shower I like to have my coffee while reading the morning paper. Only lasts about 15 minutes, but I seem to need those 15 minutes of peace and quiet to start off my day.
After that, it's bugging DD and DH to get out of bed because they are both not morning people. (This part of the morning takes most of the time) Once DD's up, I give her breakfast, she gets dressed then we're out the door. We all usually leave the house between 7:30 and 7:45.

Wow, I can't believe how early most of you get up! If I wake up at 5:30 to go to the bathroom, I still feel like it's in the middle of the night. :o I still have two more hours of sleep after that! The bad part is, I still have a hard time getting up even at 7:30. If I could I'd sleep until about 9:00 every morning....

I voted 30 minutes or less. Now that I'm a "stay-at-home-mom-with-no-kids" how long it takes me makes less difference, but even when I was attending school full time or when I worked full time, total about 30 minutes.
I wear a minimum make-up, my hair is super short now, and breakfast is something easy. The only thing that ever made me go over the 30 minutes is my shower...I LOOOOVE a looooong shower :p :D

So does DH. I'm and in and out kinda gal. DH's grandma is a quick showerer too. She said that her husband (DH's grandpa) calls it "the car wash" because she takes about as much time in the shower as it takes a car to go through an automatic car wash. DH and I now refer to my showering habits as "the car wash." Come on. 5 minutes is PLENTY of time to get clean. Anything else is just dawdling :D.
