My husband and I moved over the weekend, and my kitchen is going to be a wreck for another week. I don't want to eat takeout until then...but can't imagine doing TOO much in the kitchen either!?

Any ideas for how to feed my family for 7-10 days???

Much appreciation in advance!
Kristi

Do you have a grill? You can grill tons of stuff.

I think there was another thread for this sort of situation...

crock pot, foreman grill, gas grill/charcoal grill, nesco, electric frypan/wok, butane/propane camping stove....
cheapo microwave to plug in anywhere (they're as low as 35.00 now)...

can't recall what the rest of the thread said now...

I've moved 5 times in the last 8 years, and I always make it a priority to unpack the kitchen first. Even when my youngest ds was only 4 months old, I made dh take the kids for a drive for a few hours so I could get the kitchen squared away :) . It is so worth it to have a "normal" kitchen when the rest of the house is in chaos!

I'd suggest going back to the really easy stuff. Or, what I like to call "the stuff I eat all the time," because although I love to read Cooking Light, I haven't made any of the recipes yet.

So, here are some ideas for fast and easy things to eat:

omlettes
any kind of "breakfast-for-dinner" stuff -- eggs, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, bacon, etc.
spaghetti or other pasta with (don't freak out ;)) store-bought sauce

I also agree that grilling out would be a good idea. For sides, you could slice up a watermelon or cantelope. You can even cook corn on the cob in the microwave!

Good luck unpacking in your new home. :)

actually mine did bring food over when we first moved in, but not for 7 - 10 days!! I bit the bullet and asked them good places to eat nearby, I couldn't wait to start to use our new kitchen. I think Wallycat covered all my suggestions. Good Luck and let us know what you did!!
